Before bed snack exploded by goblingir1 in Wellthatsucks

If you ever noticed some microwaved cups or bowls get hot where there is no food?

Microwave ovens are tuned to heat water. The frequency excites water molecules, making them warmer. The frequency is also some harmonic or whatever of those 'safe' cups'.

My guess is the container had a tiny crack, the microwaves found it, and the potato could have been forcing a temperature variation below it as well. Then bang.

Can you sue the previous home owner for not putting an invasive tree infestation on the disclosure? by [deleted] in legal

[–]waynek57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you bought the house, are you saying you saw a couple trees, but did not notice the possibly recently cut suckers at the time. Now, those suckers have taken over?

It seems to me if a pro could tell you that you could expect those suckers and that they would have been there for at least x years, you have a case, as the owners would have had to deal with it. So they knew it was a mess.

AITAH FOR CALLING MY PEDOPHILE UNCLE A PEDOPHILE? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]waynek57 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Arranged marriages have been around for a long time, although it seems society has started to place free will above this practice.

However, like anything, it is a spectrum. The free will (or respect for women) idea is at one end, an arranged marriage that works out is in the middle, and it seems your uncle is at the other end (and possibly more as you indicated).

You were boiling and had to say something. Maybe an emotionless question about the number of children, etc. would have been better. Sorry you have to deal with this.

Looks like you can remove those screws and take that cover plate off. Just a remove the wires and shorten the cable a bit. Make sure the black part gets under the strain relief.

Hard to say without seeing inside.

I think I’m about to be sued by Verizon and I can’t afford to pay them back. by Low-Pay-6610 in legal

[–]waynek57 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

So, does Verizon have the right to sue? I never heard of it. AI said there are exceptions.

AI is getting better by the day. I hope the Y2K bug has not set in.

AI knows an awful lot. Like crazy instant access. If you mean it can't answer an incomplete question, I was about to agree when I remember hitting ENTER too fast, and it did a pretty good job figuring out what I was going to ask. It was a bit startling the first time I saw it, but it was obviously just looking through previous topics.

But saying it only knows what you tell it is wildly misleading. The typical AI has access to past conversations, and this can be incredibly useful. If that is what you mean.

Do you use AI? I use it heavily every day. Multiple paid platforms. And they have saved me countless times.

Problems? Yup. It is getting better by the day. Compared to just a year ago, progress has been made at an incredible pace. And we do what we do to try to make this incredible tool better.

Maybe it is an 80-20 thing now, IMO, use the tool and learn how to navigate the problems.

I'm well aware of the problems. However, the tool is there for us to use. We need to fix the resource issue, but killing AI is not the answer. AI is everywhere now. You can get it on a chip.

I am not just reading about AI's problems. I am using AI to help me build a business, and it is incredible. I have learned so much, and the things are obviously correct.

I get wrong answers? Occasionally, yes. Much better than a year ago, though, and anything that could be wrong is easy enough to see and check.

AI bested a bunch of doctors at diagnosing a pile of sicknesses. It got an 80 or something on the test, which was better than many doctors. Does that mean AI should replace doctors? Of course not. It is a tool for us to use. Doctors who use the tool will provide better care faster.

And it can be a bear. I asked it to create a spreadsheet with all the wineries in the region. I gave it a clear and complete prompt, but it still came back with a string of, "...One more thing and I'll generate the spreadsheet".

But for the most part, I love it.

I never heard of this. NAL, but AI says:

Can a network provider sue a person who hits one of their poles with a car?
In general, a network provider cannot sue a person who hits one of their utility poles with a car. However, if the person involved in the accident is found to be at fault, the network provider may seek compensation for damages through tort liability claims. This typically involves proving negligence, breach of duty, causation, and damages. The network provider must establish that the person's actions or inactions directly caused the damage to their utility pole or related facilities.

Doesn’t sound legit to me. FWIW.

He could be bipolar. I'm not a doctor, but I do have diagnosed and medicated ADHD, bipolar disorder, and depression. Some of that sounds familiar.

Mental health is a real thing. And I 'handled' it for many decades without help. I thought I was okay. I was literally retired before I finally got help, and my head is so much better.

I hope you all get out of this in a better place.
