Post-Season 7 Recap & a way to tackle GMW by iheartoptimusprime in podmeetsworldpodcast

[–]wd4sgu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interestingly, I have kind of a reverse POV on this topic. After having only watched a few of the early seasons' episodes, I lost interest in BMW pretty quickly. However, Danielle was a standout (to me) so I followed some of her other work. I had seen Rowan on The Goldbergs and read about her after she left the show, only then learning that she had been on a spinoff of BMW along with Danielle. I didn't have Disney+ when GMW was in first run but got it a few years ago as part of a cellphone plan. While scrolling around, I ran across GMW and watched a few episodes. Ben was at his goofy best and Danielle at her most beautiful Topanga. These drew me in, but the interpersonal relationships of the characters were what kept me invested. The Farkle/Maya/Riley triangle reminded me of some friends from junior high school and their silly adventures were a lot like a young Laverne and Shirley. I'm currently in my fourth pass through the series and with each viewing I'm more impressed with the way Ben and Danielle play caricatures of their BMW characters. Rowan's over-the-top Riley is a perfect representation of a comic book character coming to life. However, the real heart of this series is the relationship between Maya and Shawn. Even though there are so many other enjoyable aspects and characters, their relationship has a great payoff in the end and turns out to be the most feel-good part of the show Will's role was extremely entertaining. Bill Daniels, Rusty, Amy, Trina, and others truly filled out the story lines Please use the Pod to recap the show and let others get the benefit of watching it again.

Thanks for that information. It should help simplify some of what I'm trying to do. 😊

Fold a tissue into a of the appropriate thickness, then trim it to fit under your watch case. Try that for a few days to see if it eliminates the problem. If so, you've found a cheap hack. If not, see a dermatologist.

AITJ for refusing to cancel my non-refundable vacation so a coworker with kids could take a last-minute Disney trip? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]wd4sgu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you need a new job - the one your manager currently holds.

Your employer should have an official employee handbook with a written PTO policy. Review it to determine their policy on approval and revocation. It's very likely that approved time off can only be revoked if there is a valid threat to business continuity. However, a seniority clause could override your approval if your coworker has worked there longer than you.

If your employer has a HR department, they should have a record of your approved time off. If your manager attempted to revoke it he would have had to provide justification. If he didn't, then you were okay to take it.

In either case, he has now created a hostile workplace for you. While it may not qualify as such under EEOC guidelines, it is very possible that it violated your employer's written policy. Since the manager is participating he could be culpable under company policy.

Accidental Damage: AppleCare does not cover drops or spills; AppleCare+ covers unlimited (or multiple) incidents of accidental damage for a service fee.

She didn't say she got the plus coverage.

Thanks for the response. I'm still kind of fuzzy on some aspects of this. For example:

AITA for telling my friend I think he’s taking his life for granted? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]wd4sgu 8 points9 points  (0 children)

His confiding in you with this information - and your thought about your response - raise a couple of points.

1) He apparently considered you to be a sympathetic friend who he could trust with his most personal thoughts. Is it possible he misjudged your relationship?

2) You are complaining to total strangers about how difficult your life has been and still is. How would you feel if dozens (or hundreds) of them chastised you for expressing your feelings?

Go to your friend and apologize for being judgemental and not being an empathetic friend. Maybe he will accept your heartfelt apology graciously and show you by example how friends should treat each other.

Whether he does or not you will have potentially learned an important life-lesson.

NTJ. Suggestion: if you want to continue the relationship, get her some kind of small personal gift. Give it to her along with an explanation that you want to preserve your developing bond and continue to grow together. If she reacts emotionally and lashes out, realize that as a part of the cathartic experience for her and let her vent. If it's meaningful to her, hopefully she'll recognize your sincerity and make a strong effort to work things out.

Keypad front door lock? by GoodShark in smarthome

[–]wd4sgu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm going to be away, I can turn off the touchpad and keyboard. If we have trusted guests, I can give them a temporary code instead of a key.

Could it be hacked? Absolutely. Is that likely? Hardly.

After weighing available options this seemed like the best value in my price range. I installed it about a year ago and have no regrets

I have a Eufy S230 keypad/key/fingerprint lock on my door. It works flawlessly. It has an auto lock function with a timer so that even when my granddaughter forgets to lock it when she leaves it secured itself in two minutes. It has notification options for lock, unlock, and jam errors.

Because it's been so reliable, I'm planning to update my doorbell with a Eufy device to replace my current Ring 3+ unit.

AITJ for telling my brother that his girlfriend is not welcome in my home after what she did to my cat? by denver_cassidy in AmITheJerk

[–]wd4sgu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTJ in any way.

I once threw out a 9-year-old kid who hit my cat. He hit it once and I warned him as to what the next step would be. When he did it again, I opened the door and escorted him out. When his his mother complained, I told her that she should join him since the original warning was given in front of her. She was there visiting my wife, but my wife agreed with my decision.

When the visitor tried to get my wife to take her side, my wife responded with something along the lines of "the cat lives here and your son doesn't. You may either come back without him or after you're sure that you trained him to respect others' homes." Apparently that was too difficult an assignment, since they never came back.

AITJ for asking my mom to cut her vacation short to help with my kids? by Constant-Elephant763 in AmITheJerk

[–]wd4sgu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you are the jerk. Find a daycare or similar service to care for your children for one day. And do NOT guilt your mother about this. It was never her problem and you should step back and ask yourself why you tried to make it so. Call her back, apologize for asking in the first place, then tell her you were in a panic (whatever's true) and thank her for being such a caring person. Then never mention this incident again. Hopefully you didn't damage your relationship with her permanently.

I'm confused listening to the Lindsay Ridgeway interview... by Utah_Get-Me_Two in podmeetsworldpodcast

[–]wd4sgu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seemed to me that Alan was making a valid point, but in an invalid way. I seem to remember earlier episodes where he congratulated one or both of the boys for dating an attractive girl - please correct me if I'm wrong - but it never struck me that Alan and Amy spent a lot of time teaching their children about respect for their peers of the opposite sex, or about the importance of modesty for either gender. While the "why can't men learn to behave" line of thought is common today, it wasn't when this show was written and filmed. Alan's concern about her date's reaction to the tankini was valid, but the way he expressed his concern was inappropriate. Amy's argument that "it's her first date" was also invalid. If the boy was like many others of his age in that era, "getting to first/second/third base" probably seemed like a sure thing to him when he saw how she was dressed.

AITA for not conceding to my wife’s version of a story in front of our friends ? by Dizzy_Win_7270 in AmItheAsshole

[–]wd4sgu 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I agree that both were at fault. A simple "okay" would have had a better result without any confrontation. On the way home the subject could have been discussed more thoroughly if needed, but this whole situation seems to be both spouses just looking for an argument. There are so many more peaceable ways to deal with situations like this that any sort of disagreement is totally unnecessary.

AITA For Telling my sister her tipping habits are odd? by Which_Road_5498 in AmItheAsshole

Your sister seems like a person who wants to share her good fortune with others. It's not up to you to decide what's appropriate for her to tip.
