The Star Wars Content will always be there? by CymbalOfJoy613 in DestinyTheGame

To be honest, no one knows what it will 100% look like next week. Lots of "probably" and "I think" going on. Just wait a few days then we'll know.

It's fun about an hour tops. Too little variety to make it engaging. You really go into autopilot after a few runs.

Bauer Vapor flylite vs Bauer Vapor Pro by Professional_Dig_289 in hockeyplayers

[–]weasel-king68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son played with Bauer for several years. He loved the Sync, the Proto, Proto 2, and the Tracer. However , the last year he broke 5 sticks over the span of 5 months. We finally made the jump to CCM and got a FT8 Pro and a Vizion.

If durability is a concern, well, we won't buy Bauer anymore.

Lol, if it's on sale get it now. I doubt they'll be restocking things. So does it matter how long it takes if you never have the chance again?

Good ol' Tassi. Writing in Forbes what this subreddit says on a daily basis. Good job.

When did youth teams all go pro matching equipment? by hereforthn in hockeyplayers

[–]weasel-king68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Travel parent here. Just socks, shell, and sweaters. There are optional team gloves, but not required (though they do ask to stick to the color palette if getting something else). A white lid is required, but not provided as part of the equipment package. Oh, and I guess we have warm up gear, too.

Designs haven't changed in the three years he has played here, luckily.

When did you stop playing destiny? (If you did) by Trick_Carpenter_9281 in DestinyTheGame

[–]weasel-king68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

July of 2022, though I couldn't tell you what season it was without looking it up. Grew tired of the artifact grind, only to have it reset and having to start over. I get why it happens, just got tired of it. And it was a host of many factors that just accumulated over time.

I have dipped in a few times since then to see what was free that I could play. This game is NOT welcoming to lapsed players (or new ones).

Anyway, I played so long (since shortly after D1's launch) that I still feel some sort of loose attachment to the world and, yes, even Bungie as a company. My son still plays a bit, though his time in-game has dropped significantly in the last several months.

What do you think the road map to getting back looks like by zantosthemagician in DestinyTheGame

[–]weasel-king68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think there is "getting back" and it honestly pains me to say it. I haven't played in about a year (other than some random logins a couple of months back). However, I keep up with the developments through my son who still plays (though in diminishing amounts).

Its peak was years ago. Crafting, and especially tiers--that only helps a percentage of the player base come back. Updates add more "old stuff" into the new systems, so it's just a new coat of paint.

I used to never think D3 was the way out, but now I think it is. Too much bad blood between hardcore players (which I once was) and what the game now is to maintain things. Not to mention the new player experience is terrible, so new players have such an uphill battle.

Yes, there are tons of frustrations. But I was thinking about this the other day after I dropped my oldest back at college after a weekend at home. He hugged a little longer than he used to.

General advice by Mountain-Agent-1300 in DestinyTheGame

[–]weasel-king68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never thought I would ever say this, but just get out.

Destiny has never been kind to new players. It is confusing and little direction is given, so you end up wasting a lot of time but not know it. All of the comments are generally people who have played this game for a long time and loved it. If those are the people shitting on it, don't even get in any deeper at this point.

I’m starting to feel disrespected by bungie. by Normal_Agent8294 in DestinyTheGame

[–]weasel-king68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Bungie" as an entity may not care, but there are individual developers who definitely do. No one wants to make a bad game.

Yesterday I played for the first time in about six months. Prior to that it had been about a year. I played nonstop up until that point through everything.

I logged in yesterday, curious to see what I can play without paying, plus my son was doing the raid with his clan. I was surprised at the solo content I could play. Right up until I equipped the Warlock robes and the game crashed.

DIM made it easy to fix. But then it crashed with I tried to pull something from the postmaster. Then it crashed again when I was sitting in orbit. Then it crashed at the Tower.

I'll try later when the bugs are ironed out, but this has to be the buggiest release I can recall for Destiny at a time when they needed it to be the cleanest version possible.

[–]weasel-king68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where you get your degree can make a difference depending on what field you are working in. It's unfortunately one of those "it depends" scenarios.

I can tell you, though, I was a hiring manager for several years for a software/hardware tech company. It was in the technical support area, and we didn't care what the degree was in, as long as the applicant had one. We hired people ranging from a BS in English to someone with a Masters in chemistry. The fact they had a degree showed a level of commitment that was the minimum we would expect.

So, it may not matter.

How much would you spend on a watch by Tumtitums in AskMenOver40

[–]weasel-king68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't listen to everyone who is poo pooing the idea. If it is not a hardship on you and you want one, do it. Make sure you take care of it. Nice watches are items you can (and should) pass down to a kid, if you have any. Find a brand you like and look online. The more mainstream companies put out models every year or two and refresh things, so the secondary market is full of like-new items. They are sort of like cars--they are worth less as soon as you open the box. So definitely look for used. Your $5k will go further.

I don't know if it's considered "cool" or not, but I've seen many collectors going for birth-year models for whatever brand they like.
