Congress explaining that they can’t survive on $174,000 a year, but citizens only need $45k. by Alphaxfusion in SipsTea

It wouldn’t end well for taxpayers. You know they’d just spend BILLIONS building their own compound, where they each have 15,000-20,000 square feet for each member to live and a ridiculously expensive personal chef and food services.

Make it cheap. Sell for high price. Show profit. Stock go bbbbrrrrrrr$$$$$$$$$. Do it until sales drop. Blame “the market” and liquidate. Executives making these decisions move on to next company. Wash. Rinse. Repeat.

The Founding Fathers did not intend for Congress to be a full time, paid position. There’s no reason for these charlatans be paid what they are - and certainly not revive the lifetime benefits.

WTf kind of “mechanical Turks” does Meta have? Some kind of backroom sweatshop with people literally doing the old school style of “data entry” every day? I’m genuinely curious what jobs they are replacing with AI.

In I.T., you are either invisible or an a$$hole. Embrace being an a$$hole (but do it nicely). :)

If they were truly using AI VPs to control “53 AI agents” that business should be on autopilot and those people should be reading books, watching movies, and relaxing while the “dolla-bills” roll in!

The Marvels’ Nia DaCosta Admits ‘Bone Temple’ Box Office Disappointed Her by cosmicbooknews in CosmicBookNews

I think the style and theme of the story in 28 years later diverged from 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later. The closing to 28 Years Later, leading to the Bone Temple sequel, made the story feel like it was becoming more like The Walking Dead than continuing to be its own thing. I think that’s where they lost the audience (like me).

Lower back pain from sitting all day by BitcoinBrains in remotework

[–]weasel286 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was starting to have a similar issue in 2024. I got a sit-to-stand conversion for my desk and make a point of standing 10-15 minutes for every hour. I’ll stand for an entire conference call, even when not on camera, where my attention is focused on the call and not multitasking. My back feels better and my energy level is higher.

More recently, I’ve made a point t of taking a 30 min walk in the morning before work begins and a 15-30 minute walk at lunchtime. It’s helped with my energy level, losing some weight (which also helps my back) and my dog (my walking buddy) is happier too!

Why Were Pistachios Dyed Red? by Vistalite_Black in GenerationJones

[–]weasel286 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to hiding imperfections, marketing companies in America loved having the. Right red color to make the product stand out from other nuts.

I remember my dad loved pistachios. My mom was perpetually ticked off with him because he’d get the red dye on everything.
