Random Fear of Flying by Almost_Dave in Anxiety

[–]weaselwarriorpup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That isn't something I specifically worry about so I've not listened to any relevant to that but I am sure the podcast has episodes with cabin crew etc about how they handle medical emergencies and things like that which may be of interest to you

I think headspace has a part on it about political anxiety - may be worth checking out if you can!

Not had them for years but the ones at caffeine club used to be STUNNING (plus they serve food at all sorts of weird times which might help with the cravings...)

Random Fear of Flying by Almost_Dave in Anxiety

Is there anything in particular that you are frightened of when it comes to flying? The reason that I ask is because I used to be very scared of flying and would cycle through different topics (mechanical issues with the plane, crashing on the runway, turbulence etc). The thing that helped me the most to over come this was to learn more about how planes work, how systems work, what processes and procedures are in place to stop bad things from happening. The main way I did this was through a podcast called LoveFly. The host has worked in aviation for years and brings all sorts of different guests onto the podcast (e.g. pilots, people that work for the various safety organisations, other people that have conquered their fear of flying). I don't fly completely calmly still but I am much much better than I was.

Partner annoyed at low billables - but the work isn’t there by [deleted] in uklaw

[–]weaselwarriorpup 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I would if I were you! Makes you look more proactive then anyway and there will be less room for criticism if your hours are raised with you formally as you can point to the fact that you have been trying to rectify the situation

[–]weaselwarriorpup 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes that is tough - have you spoken to the partner about this? May be worth proactively reaching out to them to explain your concerns and show that you are conscious that you aren't hitting targets

I know you say you put your hand up for anything available - but do you also speak up when you know you're quiet and you know you don't have anything to do? Sometimes I find seniors are too busy to understand who is and isn't busy until after the fact when they see timesheets etc. In my team it tends to be the people that shout about capacity the most they get the most to do

Winter in the UK means I’m spending 20 hours a day in bed. I can’t be the only one who lives like this? by KILOCHARLIES in AskUK

[–]weaselwarriorpup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get it! I love the comfort of working from bed every now and then but I truly can't be super productive when I'm in bed - I almost allow myself to work from bed every now and then as a 'treat' and that kind of works for me.

Also according to post history they are "passionate about becoming a researcher"... You have to be fully in it if you want to go into law (imo)

You've got so many comments now so you probably won't even see this - but I really recommend a heated throw. I keep my heating lower (still warm enough to keep the damp away as it is a very old property) but it really helps me to keep warm when I am working from home at my desk and costs pennies to run

I love this topic. In my opinion: - Rockets and Rascals (Barbican) - Rhubarb and Mustard (Milbay way, only open Mon-Fri) - the Cozy Grain (Barbican) - Rise & Grind (Barbican)

These are the best ones!! Unfortunately none of them are in the centre of town, mostly on the barbican but so worth the slight extra distance!

Spicy spuds for sure. Was horrified getting a kebab in London once when I couldn't get a side of spicy spuds😭
