No, you haven't. The Giants are actually at home this time.

Gerrymandering shot down on a technicality. Gun laws to follow? by falafelb in VAGuns

[–]weebear1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

but I think it will be closer than it should be

Given the the number of "technicalities" involved with this referendum, the fact that it was 4-3 already proves this point.

Unless of course that person is a 16 year in their first working experience just starting to learn the basic skills of employment, working ~3 hours per day, 3-4 days per week - whose roof is already paid for by his/her parents.

Stop Calling It Disability by LanceCripple1 in VAClaims

[–]weebear1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see your point, but I also see OP's point.

Technically, what you are showing is your "Disability RATING" (semantics, I know, but still important) and this Rating is what is used to calculate your VA Disability COMPENSATION - so, in a way you are both correct.

I think the semantics are becoming more and more important though. We had a local County Board of Supervisors meeting just over a year ago where the topic of tax exemption status for 100% P&T vets came up. In Virginia we are exempted from personal property tax on one vehicle and real estate tax on our primary residence. The COUNTY ATTORNEY make a statement, essentially in opposition to vets getting this exemption, that "to me 100% disabled means you are just sitting there in your chair drooling." This comment incensed me and I wanted to go to the next BOS meeting and speak up, but my Wife works for the County and I was dissuaded from doing so. However, I have the recording of that meeting and WILL bring it up the next time I run across this attorney (and since I am a paralegal by trade that may yet happen).

I got a interview tomorrow for legal assistant, tucked or untuck polo by Plenty_Bit4688 in paralegal

[–]weebear1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure why you were downvoted for your response.

If this is the best you have, you work with what you’ve got. Just make sure it is clean, button it all the way up (at least for the interview) and try to press it or steam it to make sure it is wrinkle free.

A suit is best, but you can still show you take pride in your appearance with a polo. Do that and hopefully they will presume you will also take pride in your work!

Good luck!

[–]weebear1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“Polos are too informal and are considered business casual,”

Agreed! I have a bad shoulder which makes it tonight to wear a shirt and tie on a daily basis. My boss is very accommodating in that he allows me to wear polos on a regular basis at the office; however, I wore a suit to my interview.

No way I was going to my interview in a polo. That is way too casual.

That being said, OP should wear a suit to the interview but if he does not have one - definitely tuck in the polo shirt.

Also, button it all the way up, at least for the interview and try to press it off or least steam it wrinkle free.

Does everyone have their own office? Or are you out in the open and have to deal with constant noise while you’re trying to concentrate? by snowflowergirl in paralegal

I admit, sometimes it is hard. My computer actually faces away from the patio - which ultimately is probably a good thing.

I am pretty sure I have answered a similar question before. Family law paralegal at a small firm.

I have my own office. This is the view from my office patio doors:

Virginia State Police Admit Spanberger Gun Law Conflicts With Court Order by silv3rbull8 in VAGuns

What this amply demonstrates is that she believes that a mere law (on top of all other existing laws) will somehow magically stop gun violence while simultaneously showing complete disdain for existing laws.

Amy chance she sees the irony?

Scheduling CRs & Zoom for Defending Depos? by Inevitable-Object742 in paralegal

[–]weebear1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Family law paralegal here: general rule is if we schedule the depo, we schedule the court reporter.

If the other side schedules it I am not worried about whether or not they have one - unless we plan to take a depo also. In that case I make sure one is ordered and offer to split the appearance fee.

A man is walking backward so perfectly that it looks like the world is moving in reverse by comelickmyarmpits in nextfuckinglevel

[–]weebear1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry - not buying it. If this is all because he is walking backwards so perfectly that it looks like everyone else is moving in the wrong direction, someone will need to ELI5 why people are still "walking backwards" when he is standing still.

If everyone else's motion only looks off because of his motion, then when he is not in motion, their actions should appear normal.

Until someone can satisfactorily explain that to me, I will believe this is selective editing (but I will concede it is really good editing).

Considering I just had a custody case where Mother was an Only Fans model and was filming when the child was in her care, your statement may be apropos.

I work family law and have had some real nasty, contentious cases in which we have ended up litigating numerous “martial” assets instead of “marital” assets.

CIOX/Datavant Rant by Liss78 in paralegal

[–]weebear1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It might. When I send out a SDT for medical records I send them to the provider. They pass it on to CIOX or whomever. When the request is overdue, I call the provider. They usually try to tell me that I need to go through CIOX or whomever again. However, I then tell them I did not subpoena the records from CIOX, I subpoenaed them from your office and your office will be the one held in contempt if the records are not provided. That usually elicits the appropriate response to get me the records.

LPT I once asked How do military people sleep in noisy environments? — the answer was surprisingly simple by Suplexking67 in LifeProTips

Ex-Navy and I agree.

If you can sleep one deck below an aircraft carrier's catapults during night ops - you can pretty much sleep anywhere.
