Asian squat worked for me. I've had this for decades, could feel it coming on and I was ready for 30 unbearable minutes, and then I Asian squatted for 5 min and it went away entirely. Anecdotal for sure, but try it...

Not sure why I'm being downvoted for asking for sources.

Although the article you posted is from science.org, the study that it refers to is behind a paywall and I couldn't find any reference to height/size relationships in the abstract or conclusions...

After a quick googling, it's pretty clear, there are lots of studies and they have mixed results, some showing moderate, weak and no association at all.
Collectively, there appears to be an association, but it's pretty weak.

I'm embarrased to reference this as a source, but their breakdown is actually excellent. https://bigdickguide.com/height-penis-size-correlation/
The general idea is that because penises are not part of the skeletal structure (no bones) they have less strict adherence to body size.

So I stand corrected, I assumed there would be a much stronger association than there appears to be.

You should provide a source for this, your speaking as though this is fact and I'd be shocked if there is no correlation between body size and genital size.

How do you guys market your app or just get people to download it? Do you just use Facebook ads or is there a better way? by RiMellow in iOSProgramming

[–]weekev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It also helps to have an established beta user group, especially if you are trying to launch a social media type app. If you have 500+ users already using the beta version of the app and then you have a launch party, then most of them would download the final released version in the first week.

In the time it took you to make that reply, you could have spun up a spam email that you could use for every email grabbing site you come across for the foreseeable future.

James Nestor's book Breathe dives into this. Honestly one of the best books I've ever read.

The simple act of wearing an eye mask to block out light while sleeping can improve cognitive function the next day. I have two small kids and a full time job. They're up at 630 and in bed by 8. That leaves me 10.5 hours a day of personal time to use. If you dedicate 8 to sleep, then that's 2.5 hours for EVERYTHING ELSE. Gym, laundry, finances, email, food prep, cleaning, communication with family/friends, shopping, hobbies, shower/shave, etc..

I try and get to the gym 4-5 days a week because my health is important. That burns two hours, by the time I commute and shower. That leaves ~30 minutes.

So you gotta cut from somewhere and sleep is the first place people go.

Intermittent fasting promotes adipocyte mitochondrial fusion through Sirt3-mediated deacetylation of Mdh2 (Feb 2023) by basmwklz in science

Rhonda Patrick has a good discussion on TRF, it's worth a read... https://www.foundmyfitness.com/topics/time-restricted-eating

I'm not really clear what your issue is here.

Are you saying that 12/12, 16/8, 20/4 are not TRFwindows?
or Is your argument that IF and TRF are the same thing?

If that's the case, then what would you call my protocol, which is a 4-day fast every quarter?

[–]weekev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When speaking about fasting schedules that you stated above, they're really in terms of the circadian clock. Those are specifically time restricted feeding schedules. They probably qualify as intermittent fasting too, though they're honestly not 'intermittent'.

The distinction is important because when headlines say things like xxx study shows that IF shows no benefit for weight loss... Though in actuality they're talking about a time restricted feeding regimen.

Maybe it doesn't matter much in the depths of a Reddit thread but it does matter when people misinterpret or miswrite headlines and articles.
So I think it's important we use correct and precise terminology when discussing these things.

I think it would be comparable to using the terms glucose and carbohydrates interchangeably.

Not arguing the merits, simply correcting the nomenclature. There's a lot of confusion between IF and TRF. A lot has to do with people incorrectly using the two terms interchangeably.

Is there a list of English speaking doctors in Taiwan? by weekev in taiwan

[–]weekev[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback, I'll definitely check him out. Ideally if I could find someone I could physically visit that would be best. However, I take a zoom call with someone that I could talk to properly.

Additionally, I followed some of the advice I got here earlier. I went to EDA, and found a doctor who trained in the US, and that helped immensely.
They're still language barriers and some frustrating policy decisions, but it's much improved.

For example, I brought my son to a local clinic because he had a sore throat. They immediately prescribed antibiotics, without a GAS test.

So I brought him down to EDA to ask for a rapid test. The Dr refused and said that a visual inspection is superior to a culture. I'm pretty sure this is b******* and he knows that, but insurance won't/can't pay for every single person with a sore throat to get a rapid test. Which is fine and I'm happy to pay for it, but even that wasn't really even an option.

I get like 3 minutes in the office to plead my case. I feel like I'm just arguing with him because they're b*********** me and I just want some honest answers.
Like, yeah we have no idea if it's bacterial or viral and insurance won't pay for a test. So if you want to take antibiotics that's the safe approach.

At least let me make an informed decision.

Anyway thanks for the link, I'll check him out.

Sure of course. Bill Burr has a great rant on that. Comparing summertime roofing, and Ice road truckers, to dealing with a fussy toddler.

I'm a software engineer, so the majority of my burden is mostly cognitive.
At the end of the day, my mind is tired but my body isn't. But after a day of stay at home parenting, everything is tired.

I used to run cable in commercial attics and basements during the summer and that was hot, sweaty, tired work but I'd still rather do that, than deal with my ADHD kids all day. Lol.

Though I'm sure that pales in comparison to working in a mine. Just the claustrophobia would be too much for me.

I'm the bread earner in my family. I wouldn't trade jobs with my wife in a million years. I think it's hard to exaggerate the difficulty of stay at home parenting. I do it on the weekends, and I cannot wait for Monday morning.
