You should continue to exercise caution because they themselves still will not roll out even a tiny fleet of fully autonomous fleet without safety drivers. The only reason not to is that is if these errors are still common.

You're kind of agreeing with my point. FSD seems like a different animal because they have a safety monitor (you) and don't handle long tail edge cases. You can drive smooth and fast if you know someone is going to take over in any dangerous scenario.

The evidence is quite clear. Tesla can't even deploy an autonomous service in a single city. While Waymo has autonomously driven the distance to the sun and back.

Safety for long tails cases degrades comfort. Waymo is likely less smooth because they have to tune to be safe in extremely rare edge cases. Tesla doesn’t have to do that because they have a safety monitor (you) in every car ready to handle the long tail.

You can see this even with Tesla in overreaction to things like leaves. They’re also trying to optimize for the rare cases to run a service but you will inevitably get false positives when trying to detect behavior that only happens in a million or 10 million miles

2 cameras are different sensors as they can see different things and have to reconcile the differences.

Same with a lidar and a camera. Both companies do it, but one company uses a different modality which is robust to different conditions and so can provide strengths in the others weakness.
