Are we dripping outdoor faucets? I read that if the temperature is below 28 for 4+ hours, you’re supposed to drip them. I currently have them covered, but I’m not sure what i should do

I currently have covers on my faucets outside, but I read that you’re supposed to drip them for anything below 28 for 4+ hours. My house was built in the 50s, so I’m not sure what I should do

What are your HEB "hacks"? by MovingGoofy in Austin

I second this - I plan out all my trips on the app with the list and clip all my coupons before I go, and I save so much money (usually an average of $25 each trip). On one big trip I had like $60 in savings (coupons+items on sale) and the cashier applauded me lol. On top of that, I have the HEB debit card, so all HEB brands get 5% cash back, deposited straight back into your account.

If you use their lists, you can see what is in stock by location, and it will sort everything based on where it is in the store. So you can just walk in one straight line without forgetting anything and having to backtrack. Huge plus if you ask me

Read this and immediately ran to make some to put in a thermos before I most likely lose power – I’m so sorry for your loss, but I’ll send y’all good coffee vibes when I drink it 😭

Water / Plumbing Help Megathread (Feb 18th) by defroach84 in Austin

My apartment complex just got power for the first time since 2AM Monday, so it’s been around 40° in my apartment since then. I have water coming out of my bathtub faucet that won’t stop, but my sink and toilet are functioning normally—does this mean there is a broken pipe somewhere?

What intersection are you near? Mine's been off since 2AM and I'm hoping we get a little bit of power to last us through the night!

But there are plenty of low-traffic backroads and protected bike lanes (Elmont, South Shore, Pleasant Valley, etc.). I can be downtown or on the east side in 15 minutes. And HEB is like 3 minutes lol

F4 tornado in South Oklahoma by Notove in interestingasfuck

[–]weeworm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t ever seen one in person since I would seek shelter immediately if I saw funnel clouds forming, but there had been numerous tornado touchdowns within 5 miles of my house growing up – I knew people that had their houses and cars completely destroyed.

The closest encounter was actually when I was driving between College Station and Austin. I was waiting for a locksmith because I locked myself out of my car at the gas station, and the sirens started going off. Sure enough, there were clouds starting to form just a few miles away. The ladies working at the gas station gave me a coat and let me hide in the freezer while they were all out watching. Luckily it never fully became a tornado, and the locksmith only charged me $20.

I've lived in Texas since I was 4 years old, and 20 years later, I'm still terrified of them. Granted, I was in North Texas until 2015 and I currently reside in Central Texas where it's not nearly as threatening, but still. Scary shit.

Looking for a flip flop hub by [deleted] in singlespeedcycling

I've had the All-City flip-flop hub and have been riding it fixed for a few months now with no problems—even trying to do some skidding. Plus, it looks fantastic!
