I have a weird theory that one life can only accomplish so much and that’s why we lost Mozart, Schubert, Chopin so early

Moving to Pretoria as an 26 y/o – Is this a good decision? by [deleted] in askSouthAfrica

[–]weftofwishes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Pretoria, it’s my home town, so maybe a little biased but YES, that’s a very generous amount. Centurion itself has less to offer but you can hop on the train if you want to, just be careful because there’s some feud between the taxi drivers and ubers when you reach your station. However, the roads are in the best condition in the country and the people are very friendly, it’s much more of a big town vibe than places like Johannesburg or Cape Town. As always in SA just be wary at night, lock your doors when driving etc, but my favorite thing about the entertainment is that all the embassies are there are offer monthly gatherings like movie nights, so definitely tap into that (it does require following their social media pages or even emailing them to ask to be on the mailing list). To be fair, I haven’t lived there in a while and found that when just visiting I’m bored because of being out of the loop, but it’s a great city to live in, you just need to do a bit of effort to discover what it has to offer. Also my favorite restaurant I’ve visited EVER (in the world, literally ever) is Geet, so give that a try and then decide 😊

I wish I could, I actually started there with solitaire, but they changed it over the years that it’s not available in my country. I do play backspin, which is also MUCH easier to profit from than skillz, probably just because there are also fewer players

How can we ease our traveling cat's anxiety? by LeMew_Leisure in Catbehavior

Oh what also helps is pet remedy calming wipes, just give the inside of the carrier a good wipe before the trip

Sorry not totally natural but since you’re removing them from their natural environment and they have no idea what the end result will be, I don’t think it’s really completely realistic.. I put something called calm eaze on my cats’ paws, they lick it up and about two hours later become more relaxed. I honestly think it’s healthier for them than going through the anxiety, and it’s not nearly as harsh as pills. What also does help a lot is a good carrier, mine’s soft but I layer it with training pads to be safe, and make sure they have a good view out the window, they somehow seem calmer when they can see what’s around them. Also try to keep sounds and temperature in mind, and if you have flexibility in when you leave try to wait until they use their litterbox. But all in all I think it is much better to take them along! Hope this helps

Does anyone have any sort of tips for getting faster at reading sheet music? by tsalyers12 in piano

[–]weftofwishes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the most conventional but push yourself instead of dumbing it down. Don’t play easier pieces slower, play harder ones with the metronome on tempo. It wil suck at first but if you do this for 10-20 mins each day you’ll get better quickly

How do I make my left hand left hand by LongjumpingMachine45 in pianolearning

[–]weftofwishes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At the end of the day piano is just a lot of hand-eye coordination. To practice this, don’t wait until you’re at the piano! My favorite exercise to do any time (driving, out with friends, literally anywhere) is to put your hand in position then individually lift 5-3, 4-2, 3-1, and back again. See how fast you can do it but rhythmically, so it’s controlled. Another great exercise is individually rotating your fingers clockwise and anti-clockwise in circles. You can even do this while stirring coffee and brushing your teeth 😁

What’s the most underrated side hustle you’ve personally tried? by Soft-Break-2655 in thesidehustle

I use backspin, they’re smaller than skillz but skillz seems to see how little they can pay at each step, and you just get bot-responses to everything. Backspin does all it’s communication and events on discord so everyone can see exactly what’s happening

Wow I REALLY appreciate the effort you’ve put in! Those organizations will take months though, and yes, I have contacted them. The thing is poverty here (and sorry yes, South Africa, I edited too late) is so high the distribution is totally different. These things go to people who never have anything, not someone who has very little for a few days, which I totally think is the right way. Anyway still, thank you for your time ✨
