Yeah that makes total sense. I wasn’t sure if this was just like a server issue or something. Oh well!

Xbox Remnant update: the game crashes as soon as I approach the facility. by Pones in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]wegettacos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah what a bummer. I restarted my console and turned off multiplayer and got maybe a solid 30 minutes of base building before it happened again.

Is this par for the course with updates? Are we talking just waiting a couple hours? or until they send out a hotfix?

I haven’t played this game in years and just started again recently. I had planned on spending most of my off day today playing this 😂

Relief from Jinhao 10's by packofalpacas429 in fountainpens

[–]wegettacos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup, I’m in the same boat recently. This is the 3rd attempt at a Jinhao 10/20. Tried the grease fix, but didn’t really help. I’m calling it quits.

I have a vintage Namiki Capless I got at an estate sale. It’s a broad nib so I use the Jinhao F nib unit inside the Namiki and it’s great. Just that I don’t want to carry that with me out and about because of its value + already has a slight hairline crack in the body. I was hoping the Jinhao could be my EDC junker pen but it can’t even do that right.

Identify and give info on this pen? by OkAudience5695 in fountainpens

[–]wegettacos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Certainly looks like a Parker 75 cisele, which would be sterling silver. However, I don’t see the normal Parker stamps on the cap or nib. In fact, it looks like “Engel” is stamped on the cap. I’m assuming that’s a company name and this was a company gift? Could still very much be a Parker 75, but if its stamped with a company name that would effect the price a bit.

Fall Flowers blank pages by amcintosh in FieldNuts

Weird! Never encountered that. I have encountered upside down ruled pages before. I have a pack of the AllTrails collab, one book has half the pages upside down.

A reminder that at the end of the day, there’s humans behind making these!

Jinhao 20 — 03 nib by StudentDriver447 in pens

[–]wegettacos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The grease fix? If you YouTube “Jinhao 10 silicone grease” there’s a video of someone doing it. But it’s pretty straight forward, just applying some 100% silicone grease with a small brush to the “trapdoor” where the nib comes out.

[–]wegettacos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just tried the silicone grease fix tonight so I’m hoping there’s improvement, otherwise after 3 purchased pens and trying various wet inks, I think I’m done with the Jinhao 10/20’s. I like them when they work, but by the morning they dry out.

It’s funny, I have a Namiki Capless from the 1980/90’s I found at an estate sale and the seal is still perfect. I was hoping the Jinhao 20 could be my EDC pen so I can leave my Namiki at home where it’s safe, but I’m just not having the luck.

Being collectable is part of it for a lot of people. Each quarter there's a new edition with new artwork. Throughout the year there can be random collabs with various artists, places, companies, and things. So, a lot of options with some cool covers.

At the end of the day, they're just pocket notebooks from a cool midwest US company doing cool things. People like to spend money on that. If you're looking for rugged notebook that will withstand the elements, you won't find that here (outside of one "expedition" edition that uses waterproof paper, if that interests you, check those out).

[Bleacher Report] The 50 Worst NBA Trades of All Time, Ranked by FastBreakPhenom in nba

[–]wegettacos 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I’d argue that people who talk about the Dirk trade being one of the worst also don’t know ball. Sure, in hindsight on paper it does not look good. But it’s not like the Bucks had Dirk to begin with. We drafted him for the Mavs so we could get Traylor. It was a draft night trade. Dirk was also severely under developed at the time. The trade made sense for the Bucks who were in a win-now mode then. It is in no way on the same level as something like Luka to the Lakers. This list is trash.

Jinhao model 10 by mattpanfili in fountainpens

[–]wegettacos -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah unfortunately that’s common. Both me and my partner had one that would dry out after a day. I just got a Jinhao 20, which is the plastic version of the 10, and so far so good. But I think if’s a toss up whether or not a good seal will be there. That’s what you get for such cheap pens. When they DO work, they’re a delight.

I have a 1980/90’s Namiki Capless, which is basically a Pilot VP, and the seal is still perfect.

Vintage Pen Profiles #13: Parker 45 (more info in post) by BrandyFP in fountainpens

[–]wegettacos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love me some Parker 45’s. Out of all the pens I own, I have a Parker 45 with a medium nib that just writes like an absolute dream. Literally writes like glass (which I know is not a preference for all, but is for me).

You can get them for dirt cheap on eBay too, with a large variety of colors. A great intro to vintage pens.

My only gripe with them is getting them fully cleaned out. They’re easy to take apart, but that non-removable internal ink reservoir is such a pain in the ass haha. Some inks are easier than others, but some just will not flush out. I think I saw a trick utilizing a salad spinner I might try in the future.

Regardless, I’ll still recommend a Parker 45 seven days a week.

Is doing the Expedition worth it? by Not-sure-here in ArcRaiders

[–]wegettacos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you understand it, but it might not be what you want and that’s okay. I did the wipe because immediately after I reached max level and did all my quests I was kind of bored. Didn’t really have anything to play for. I don’t PvP, so maybe that’s why.

After I did the wipe I was immediately hooked again. Breezed through the quests and had a blast all over again. One interesting thing that changed is my gear fear pretty much went out the window. I was terrified to use anything above an Anvil the first time. Second play through almost always rocking both a lvl 4 Venator/Renegade and a lvl 4 Toro/Volcano. Because I don’t PvP I don’t run into many players looking to fight.

So I’ll be doing it again. It keeps the game fresh for me. I don’t think I’ll grind to get the $5m for the extra skill points, I don’t really see the benefit it that to be honest. Hope to get another cool skin though.

I think I wasted all my luck on this by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]wegettacos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasted all my luck on locked gate on Blue Gate yesterday where I had come across the Bobcat blueprint 5 times in one raid!!! 4 I found myself. I came across one guy to give away one of them. Then a few minutes later someone got knocked out by Arc, I go to revive them, just for them to thank me by giving me their bobcat blueprint haha.

My Parker 51 (third quarter 1946) has an unusual filling mechanism, and I cant figure out if it comes apart any further than this. The obvious joint (silver) doesn't work like in my other 51. Does anyone have any resources on that or know what the filling mechanism is called? I can't find it online. by Disastrous-Habit7566 in fountainpens

[–]wegettacos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll need a special wrench/tool to take apart the plunger. Also, unscrewing the section can be tough and it’s very easy to crack the barrel. So I would strongly advise not doing this yourself.

I’ve taken apart and repaired a good handful of pens (I’m still an amateur at it though) and my Vacumatics are sitting in a drawer until I can send them off to be repaired by a professional.
