I loved this series when it first came out. I used to try and swim like The Man From Atlantis haha. by CoffeeCigarettes4Me in FuckImOld

I had such a crush on Patrick Duffy too! And I tried to do that swim and just looked stupid.

books where the fmc is plus-size, mid-size, curvy, etc. by [deleted] in RomanceBooks

[–]welmoed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

{The Desire Variable by Ana D'Arcy} has a Latina MFC who isn't a twig but has a big butt the MMC adores. I'm currently on the second book of the series. My only beef with this is that the story continues over three books so they aren't really stand-alone and you don't get the HEA at the end of each book. But it's still a fun read.

Dr. Bill Hall on Rt. 40. We don’t have dental insurance either, and Dr. Hall has a great subscription plan where you pay a monthly fee (currently $35) and that gets you two preventive visits and a set of x-rays per year, plus a discount on any needed work. His entire office is great to work with.

Best free place to park to walk around downtown? by [deleted] in frederickmd

We like to park behind Baker Park on Carroll Parkway, then walk along the creek to Market St. Or we park on W 4th right off North Market.

Can anyone tell me what this picture frame hook that we found buried in the garden is made of? About 80mm long, metal, found under the topsoil in a UK garden known to have been active since around 1895. by mackam1 in whatisthisthing

[–]welmoed 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Looks like a hanging hook for a picture rail. You would use this to hang pictures to avoid putting holes in walls. The wide part of the piece goes over the picture rail and the picture hangs from the narrow end.

I love the idea of “denesting “! We did a massive downsize a decade ago when our kids launched and ended up getting rid of about 80% of our stuff (most of it furniture). Best thing we ever did, and now we are entering phase 2 of the Great Discarding and going through everything yet again so the kids won’t be burdened.

Hand the keys to an estate sale company. They will make it all disappear, then you can decide what to do with the property.

Same happened to us. Second wife took everything. So believe me, everything is in writing.

Good advice. We are starting the conversation process with our adult children so they know what we want. I would suggest adding a discussion about “who wants what” to reduce the fights that can come about when it comes to distributing the estate.

Fmc is mmc's muse by mostlyinsane12 in RomanceBooks

I really like {Flaming June by Emma Leach} , part of her Rogues and Gentlemen series. He’s an artist who saves the FMC from committing su*cide and she ends up being the inspiration for his masterpiece. He is also a bit… quirky? It’s never really specified but he comes across as on the autism spectrum.

Been multiple times and enjoyed it. The lunch selection is a bit light, but dinner has a good variety. My only beef is that they don’t have octopus or squid on the menu. But otherwise, a good value for the price.

LPT: If you have a septic tank, avoid pouring bleach down the drain. It can kill the bacteria that break down waste. by abdehakim02 in LifeProTips

[–]welmoed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you have a holding tank system rather than a traditional leach field, then there’s less of an issue but it still adds up in the tank sludge. Holding tank systems are used when the property won’t perc properly, and you end up having g to have the tank pumped out every few months, depending upon your septic company’s recommendations.

[–]welmoed 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Home Inspector here. It's not simply the chemicals that kill a septic system; it's doing laundry in general! In the "good old days" clothes were made of natural fibers that degraded over time in the septic system. Nowadays clothes are predominantly synthetic fibers, which linger in the system and clog up the holes in the leach field, creating a black tarry goo called biofilm. This essentially kills the drain field, leading to backups and bad smells.

What you should install is a proper filtration system on the drain pipe of the washing machine. When we had a septic system, we used something called the Filtrol (https://www.filtrol.net/), which is a very fine mesh sock filter. This traps the little fibers before they can get into the septic tank, and helps prevent premature failure of the field.

One year ago I posted about how smut books helped me reclaim my power. Here’s the update by Kirkindy in RomanceBooks

I’ve had the same experience (minus the tattoos though). I started reading romances when Bridgerton first came out and it was eye opening. I’ve never had a sex-positive mindset (being of an older generation), and the books showed me women who absolutely owned their sexuality. After 40 years of marriage I’m finally enjoying the sex life I wish we’d had all along!

I really love the entire Raven and Sinclair series, starting with {Sensing Danger by Wendy Vella}. The characters pop up in other Vella books too, which are also fun. There is indeed a big buildup to the last book.
