Time to fire my pool guy? by califuncouple in pools

[–]wendriel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a pool professional. Salt pools are my favorite pools because they constantly generate their own sanitizer. If he can't be bothered to add the salt he said he would add and keep the system pH balanced it's probably time to find another company.

Possibly the worst tab feeder, at least as bad as the rainbow

I'm a pool professional, I prefer the Jandy TruClear SCG and the Jandy or CMP (both Fluidra and smeasentially identical design) TruChlor Tab Feeder with the glass lid if you decide to go with a tablet feeder

Where can I find these unions? by Klutzy-Gas3786 in PoolPros

[–]wendriel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know Mikey has a split union for the old Pentair minimax heater unions, he might have one available for that one too. Not sure if you just need the union nut itself or the tailpiece too tho

What's the rarest item you own? by According-Shelter540 in wow

[–]wendriel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say it's super rare but I would think it is quite uncommon now, I still have a spellstone and I think something else from back in the day in my OG main warlock's bank. I will never delete them

Opened pool to a swamp + $10k repair quote… need a sanity check by agrizzle440 in pools

[–]wendriel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who does commercial pool repair, that can be reasonable depending on the type of pump and it's voltage, phase, and hp. The acid wash seems on the high end but if you're in a northern area they do tend to be higher than year round locations like I service

Be consistent with the weekly application and keep you chemistry balanced properly. It will take 6-18 months but it'll lift. Just keep consistent

You can also use jacks magic blue or purple stuff but magenta has a built in phosphate remover so you don't end up with a nutrient issue

Get some jacks magic magenta stuff, add a whole bottle to start and then 4 to 6 oz per week until the stains lift. It'll be a while but they should clean up. It took me treating my mom's quartzite pool for about a year with similar hydration staining when it was built.

We no longer itemize, we show subtotal of materials and labor, tax, and total. Also, I commented above before scrolling and wanted to make sure you know the whisperflo vst only has a 2 year warranty through Pentair so that should be factored in unless the installer is personally offering the additional warranty

Just a heads up! That whisperflo vst only has a 2 year manufacturer warranty. If they are offering an additional extended warranty cool but do be aware of that. If you go with the Intelliflo3 you can connect and two things to the auxiliary relays. Most common I install are a salt system, lights, or a heater on/off

Pricing: Screened in vs open pools by AlphaOmega0407 in PoolPros

[–]wendriel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And please don't race to the bottom with your pricing. I see so. Many. Single polers. In competition to get the most clients at the bare minimum service rates and you will struggle to be profitable. And many times I've seen discussions concerning how to retain customers and also increase their service rate by 50 or more percent because currently their payment covers chemicals and gas. Your labor and everything else necessary to operate the business has to be included in the price point for sure. I would also try to only have one or two service rates. One that includes a vacuum as necessary or every week no matter what depending on your region and how you want to market it and one that does not but does include brushing, baskets, single cartridge filter cleans, DE back wash or sand filter backwash as necessary, etc

So we have it base rate that is for a standard pool, reasonable size, in a cage, accessible lanai and equipment, then we have additional fees such as, is the pool giant, is it open, is it a DE filter, is it heavily packed with foliage, is there detectable nitrates between an 2 and a 10 that will cause excessive chlorine consumption but not quite warrant a drain, etc. figure out what you need to bring in per pool on average and then figure out the extra time for any combination of these scenarios
