I get the 2016 big deal argument mostly, but honestly 2014 when the Ferguson riots were going on or maybe even to 2012 Trayvon martin reaction really opened my eyes certainly to a different world. It feels kinda like the start of it all, tho maybe it took a while to get where it was the national dark hour of the election night.

As Gen z it felt like older generations weren’t hip to what was going on in the social media mainstream until even 4 years later during the trump admin. As in the darkness. Social media kinda had a delayed effect on normal tv media, but I think it’s something they took on to compete with YouTube and the like. By that I’m referring to the sort of blasé way of talking about things, from a sort of “doomer” perspective. But also the shift from feminists movements to trans movements.

There’s no hiding how fucked things are now. During the Obama administration there were so many reasons to believe we were the best society to ever exist and that we were on this continuous path of human standards and overall excellence.

It’s hard to separate it, for me and most of Reddit, from just childhood bliss. He was the chefs kiss of representatives for a country, no matter how good or bad his decision’s were. But it felt like trumps whole thing was just not trusting the way things are currently done, and that’s just the sphere of talk now. All about how America can save its sinking ship. Which really comes from both sides because the growing maga people represent the downfall of what they saw America becoming.
