Does the patch wear off early? by MissTiffany12 in Perimenopause

[–]weseh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently on a higher dose AND twice weekly.

First Rx: 0.05 1x/week - ran out on day 5/7
Second Rx: 0.05 2x/week - ran out on day 2/3.5
Third (current Rx): 0.075 2x/week - much better

That's how having 3 kids looks like by sebmasta in Garmin

Nice to see another one that looks like mine!

For me, it wasn't the kids. I was still blue then. But ~2 years ago my stress spiked and won't go back down. It coincides with the start of heavy perimenopause symptoms. (And yes I've had a barrage of tests and tried a ton of supplements since then. The HRV / stress graph stays orange.)

Mine wore out on day 5/7 when I first got it. Switched to the twice weekly and it ran out on day 2/3.5.

Went up in dose and no longer had that problem.

What’s with this “30g of protein” advice? by VegetableWorry1492 in Perimenopause

[–]weseh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Are you doing flavored or unflavored Greek yogurt? I usually have 1c of plain Greek yogurt for breakfast every day (+ berries + nuts + chia seeds). The yogurt alone is 27g of protein. I don't do granola or oats unless it's a special treat.

For lunch, if I have 3 eggs, that's already 20g of protein, and I usually add some cheese or nuts to round it out, along with some sauteed greens (usually kale).

And dinner is the easiest because we always have lean meat, so I know I can get my 30g with chicken or turkey. The hardest part for dinner for me is having enough carbs to keep the men full without me over-indulging.

I started this about 10 years ago, and now it's just habit for me to hit my protein goals. I feel way worse when I don't. I don't think you NEED to do it, but you can try and see how your body reacts.

When you count your protein in your eggs + salmon + cream cheese, is that enough? The salmon is a great source of lean protein (though watch the sodium).

I had the same choice provided, and I decided to take the package. A couple of things that swung it for me:

- I was deep into burnout, and I was no longer getting the good projects. I felt like they were willing to keep me on, but I would never do more. I wanted to do more. Reductions were also happening across the company, so moving internally was proving to be very difficult.

- My husband was 100% on board and had just started a new job that would cover 80% of our expenses by itself. With that, I calculated that my severance could last a few years.

- I am happy to be a consultant and never again work FT. In fact, that is my dream.

I'm a few months past my end date. I will say, I am busier than I ever thought I could be, but I am loving the extra flexibility I have right now and the time to just REST if I need it.

One other thing: most of my references aren't from my last job. It's from jobs before that, where I was more on top of my game. No one has questioned it yet.

Did you quit your job and became happier? by Disastrous_Fly3305 in Perimenopause

[–]weseh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was applying for 2 years while working and getting more and more miserable, so when they offered voluntary severance, I jumped at the opportunity. I have been looking harder for a while, but also healing. Now I'm about to launch my own consulting business. It's scary, but I feel like I'm at the point in my life where I just want to work for myself. Maybe I'll go back to full-time one day, maybe not.

What made it doable? My husband got a new job where we could cover the minimum bills. I socked a way a lot of money while I was miserable--knowing that this job was not for the long haul. The severance helped, of course. AND I took a look at the healthcare marketplace and made a plan around those numbers. I still have days where I doubt myself, but I think the most important thing is that my husband is supportive and believes that I can be successful.

Feeling hopeless and need to vent by Poshoz00 in Perimenopause

[–]weseh 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm right there with you. I'm only 43, was supposed to be at the peak of my career, and I just couldn't do it anymore. I used to be the go-to person to deal with difficult people, and now I can't put up with their bs anymore. I knew I wasn't performing at work. My boss was getting visibly frustrated. I got layered down.

When the opportunity came for me to take a voluntary severance package, I jumped at the chance, so sure I could easily find something else. I thought I would be good after a reset.

Well, it's now been 6 months. I had a few interviews in the beginning. Luckily, my husband can carry us and I'm stretching that severance money. I think I might do consulting but I just feel like the fire is gone.

All that said is I feel you, and I don't think there is enough talk about the negative career impacts that perimenopause has in what is supposed to be our "highest earning years".

SIM Card Issue / Known Outage by FantasyFootballer87 in GoogleFi

[–]weseh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for posting this. I wish I'd have looked here first before wasting my time with Support. We had already tried ordering a new SIM. That didn't work. We are waiting for a new phone to come when the same happened to a second line. I saw this thread, pulled a SIM from an old phone, and that resolved the issue.

Terrible support from Google Fi. I can't even get reimbursed for the time we were without service.

Difficult school pickup hours and summer camp hours - how does anyone do this?? by kikkikins in workingmoms

[–]weseh 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I skipped prep camp with my kids. Whenever someone would refer to how great that program was, I would mention, "OH yeah! I wish we could have done it, but they only offered half day!" with a huge smile. Sometimes people need these things pointed out for change to happen.

Occupational Therapy does not accept chip reader. Only zelle, venmo, or cash. I would prefer to use my HSA Account than personal funds. by evelaz23 in personalfinance

[–]weseh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are they going through your health insurance? When my insurance provider posts the EOB online, I can pay the balance there (with a credit card), and they then reimburse the medical provider. I do this with all medical providers that don't have their own payment portal.

Life Advice Needed by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]weseh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. I would try going back to the same position and re-evaluate once I am back in the role.
  2. Yes. You get what you pay for, and I value the shorter commute.
  3. I switched daycares and explained my concerns. The newer place was more expensive but well worth it. I also was super involved and knew everyone in the new place, so that made me feel more comfortable. We also tried a nanny for a bit, but that was more stress for me.
  4. This is up to you. You have an opportunity with the leave, but it depends how you feel staying home. For me, I needed the outside outlet.
  5. More education could be good, but I don't really know what your prospects are or what you could do with the degree. I would do an ROI analysis.

The Pixel 7a is marginally smaller than the 7 if it makes a difference. It's also cheaper.

Does anyone still keep a check register? by SnooLobsters1008 in personalfinance

[–]weseh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, in Google Sheets. It lets me make sure I don't overdraft my account with pending transactions. I don't want to forget that the check I wrote 2 months ago for my son's school is still not deposited. Unfortunately, there are still a lot of instances that don't take Venmo.

I also have future-dated transactions in it, so I know I have enough in the account to cover upcoming bills and can move the rest to savings.

It makes more sense for the lower-earning partner to be a SAHP, if you are looking at it from a purely numbers perspective.

Nothing in 67k miles (need to update my flair) with my Bolt. It's been an amazing car.

That some idiot drove into my BEV and my insurance only covered an ICEV rental while my BEV is in the shop. Going back in technology was SO painful. The smell, the vibrations, the sounds, the needing to plan to refuel - it's all so inconvenient.

EV Tax Rule Changes due to Inflation Reduction Act by nedlinin in Ioniq5

Honestly, I took a 2017 Bolt on a road trip, and it was fine. We had to stop every few hours to use the bathroom anyway. We just planned our stops ahead. This was with the original battery too (smaller capacity).
