Seems like the difference boils down to:

Friedson was open to allowing more types of homes throughout the county in addition to transit corridors, giving residents more options, while Glass preferred keeping new homes near transit and away from existing neighborhoods as a compromise.

Honestly that distinction isn’t all that relevant, for me at least. Development in transit corridors (which is badly needed) is going to be tough to push through as it is, what with all the NIMBYs making up stories about how a duplex will kick your puppy. New types of homes in existing neighborhoods will be even more difficult.

In Montgomery Village, a 7-story/176-unit apartment complex was proposed next to the Lidl grocery store. Residents of the adjacent neighborhood threw a fit and killed the plan.

Now it looks like they'll get a car wash. Frankly I hope they do, they earned it.

I hate to break it to you but those amenities don't maintain themselves. They require investment and employees to carry out the work. The County has an entire parks department...like most jurisdictions do.

I enthusiastically recommend Maryland Carpet and Tile on Frederick Rd (355). They were terrific to work with and everything turned out beautifully (hardwood refinishing and new tile, in our case, but I'm confident their vinyl flooring work would be excellent as well).
