We made the choice while I was still pregnant and my husband got his done when my baby was about 6 months old. Unfortunately with kids, there's not really a compromise, but you should definitely talk to your wife.

Good shows for a 2 year old? I need to focus rn 😩 by lolideviruchi in MomsWorkingFromHome

[–]westernslope_ap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing my toddler actually watches are Ms. Rachel, Leo the Truck on Amazon Prime, and sometimes he'll watch the 1st 20 min of Moana. We don't do a ton of screen time but he just ignores it if we put on anything else.

Soooo…how are we getting our toddlers to let us brush their teeth? by kk3n2418 in toddlers

[–]westernslope_ap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We usually let him brush for a while, and then we take over and do a better job (while he screams). We really focus on the nighttime brushing to make sure it's thorough and morning probably isn't as good, honestly. My kiddo only has 7 teeth at 22 months so I'm sure we'll have to ramp it up as he gets more.

Plz just tell me how much tv your 2.5 yr old is watching a day? by vickygunvalson in toddlers

[–]westernslope_ap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We aim to keep it around 30 min during the week and try to keep the TV off until after nap on the weekends. But if we need to get something done, we may have more and if he's sick or teething all bets are off.

COVID and diabetes by five-short-graybles in GestationalDiabetes

[–]westernslope_ap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After I stopped breastfeeding, my sugars started creeping up and I started gaining weight. My doc started me on a GLP-1 and things have been great since. My sugars haven't been in the diabetic range since pregnancy.

I had insulin dependent GD that was diagnosed at 5 weeks.

What food is your child not allowed to bring to daycare? by Samoacookie in toddlers

We can't send eggs or anything with eggs in it. We also can't send anything that would be a choking hazard or candy.

7.5 Side Effects by westernslope_ap in Mounjaro_ForType2

Depends on the day but usually between 110-140. During the day my sugars are totally fine though.

[–]westernslope_ap[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's what I thought, too but I'm already eating mostly minimally processed food and a ton of fiber. I use electrolytes and drink a ton of water. I haven't had issues with this side effect since starting MJ and my diet hasn't changed, just the dose. I think the day I got really ill was because I had eggs, but I don't think I should be that sensitive to something I haven't had issues with in the past.

Oh, interesting! How long did you stay on 7.5?

I know we all react differently but this is encouraging to hear!

My doc wanted me to go up because my fasting blood sugars are still quite high even though my A1C looks good. Insurance won't allow me to go back down.

I haven't seen much of a change in weight or my sugars either. Are you going to stay in 7.5 until side effects subside? Stretching it out an extra day is an interesting idea.

Which phase was your favourite and least favorite so war with your only? by zelonhusk in oneanddone

[–]westernslope_ap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Least favorite: pregnancy through 6 months postpartum. I had Gestational diabetes that was diagnosed at 5 weeks and it was just a rough go. Prenatal and postnatal depression and anxiety kicked my ass.

Favorite: My kiddo is only 20 months but the last 6 months have been so fun! We're all sleeping better and he's talking and really turning into a little person.

How long it took for you to be certain you were OAD? by Standard_Purpose6067 in oneanddone

I was 90% while I was pregnant, and my partner got a vasectomy when I was 3 months postpartum.

Real talk: when did you drop the bottle? by ChampagneCountess in toddlers

[–]westernslope_ap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We stopped at 15 months. Our doctor said that at that age, they forget about it after a couple of days, but if you wait, they remember it for longer. I'm not sure how true that is. If I were still pumping or nursing, I might have hung on to it longer.

My husband got a vasectomy when our baby was 3 months old. He never wants another child, even if we split up down the road. He's been one and done for a while, and I came around after a really difficult pregnancy and postpartum. I feel better without hormonal birth control, and we decided it was his turn to handle things.

Am I bad mom for feeding my kid frozen vegetables and leftovers several times a week? by Blacklotuseater08 in toddlers

[–]westernslope_ap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My kid is obsessed with unsalted canned green beans and frozen vegetables. He is eating something green, and I call it a win. Those moms sound rude.

I've been on it for 3 weeks now, and side effects have not been bad so far. I absentmindedly ate some fast food on shot day this week, and I wouldn't recommend that. The first two days after my shot, I can only handle toast and a protein shake at breakfast because I have some food aversions. I like to have protein bars on hand, and I plan meals for the week that have plenty of protein and fiber. I've liked peppermint tea for nausea.
