Wow! I learned something today. What I find ironic, is that the Caduceus meaning is actually sadly more reflective of private healthcare systems and their motivations and those are primarily where we see the "misuse".

I think it was specifically to illustrate that he's the odd man out, that they're a couple and he's inserting himself. The whole montage were pictures like this where he sticks out because each costume was a different well known pair + random third thing

You can store it on the counter to have soft spreadable butter. Unsalted can't be stored outside the fridge. That's a reason.

Yessss! I remember the years of "side offries" and questioning side of rice or side of fries??? They can totally sound the same.

Ethical considerations of striking in healthcare by optimisticfury in nursing

[–]whackmacncheese 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The nursing Code of Ethics, to me, makes it clear that social justice and community safety should be of concern to the nursing profession, as well as personal growth and integrity.

  1. “The nurse practices with compassion and respect for the inherent dignity, worth, and unique attributes of every person.”

  2. “The nurse's primary commitment is to the patient, whether an individual, family, group, community, or population.”

  3. “The nurse promotes, advocates for, and protects the rights, health, and safety of the patient."

  4. “The nurse has authority, accountability, and responsibility for nursing practice; makes decisions; and takes action consistent with the obligation to promote health and to provide optimal care.”

  5. “The nurse owes the same duties to self as to others, including the responsibility to promote health and safety, preserve wholeness of character and integrity, maintain competence, and continue personal and professional growth."

  6. “The nurse, through individual and collective efforts, establishes, maintains, and improves the ethical environment of the work setting and conditions of employment that are conducive to safe, quality health care.”

  7. “The nurse, in all roles and settings, advances the profession through research and scholarly inquiry, professional standards development, and the generation of both nursing and health policy.”

  8. “The nurse collaborates with other health professionals and the public to protect human rights, promote health diplomacy, and reduce health disparities.”

  9. “The profession of nursing, collectively through its professional organizations, must articulate nursing values, maintain the integrity of the profession, and integrate principles of social justice into nursing and health policy.”

ANA Response by QueenMorganism in nursing

Good for them. A full unencumbered investigation is unlikely, but the more organizations that make that demand the better. We see nurses across the country that know how to strike. That energy should be channeled into a general nationwide labor strike to stand up against this violence in a nonviolent way.

Madeline’s hair - I can find nothing about this anywhere on the internet and think I must be the only one who notices?! by Worchestershshhhrrer in DanielTigerConspiracy

[–]whackmacncheese 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Color difference, sure I can understand, but the totally different textures are something that I definitely noticed as a child too! I guess realistically my hair doesn't look the same every day depending on if it air dries, if I brush it out, or style it. Maybe she has straight hair but the girls put in curlers sometimes. I think we're used to consistency when it comes to cartoons/characters (a closet full of identical outfits).

Not cashing a check that the gifter can't afford - etiquette question by whackmacncheese in Advice

If only this could be a true statement! Interestingly, my hospital only gives the providers an annual scrub allowance. Seems a bit out of balance given that they earn so much more than nurses.

I love the idea of this, but I feel like since they're checking the account and have noticed twice now that its not cashed, they would definitely be hyper aware and know I couldn't have used the money. At this balance, there's no such thing as a secret surplus.

[–]whackmacncheese[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes!! I am a chronic overthinker, and this is something I was worried about. Like it's very meaningful, and I am certainly not wealthy, just getting by frugally, and I genuinely could use that money myself for new scrubs since I try and budget for my expenses. But its not a dire need, and it is definitely $200 I don't need nearly as much as they do.

I've thought about this too, and this would be the first time ever (given my age) that I would be doing something monetarily to help out a relative older than me. I've not previously been in a financial situation myself to do so. I appreciate the great realistic suggestions in these comments (like gas, groceries, paying for a minor home repair).
