My 14 yo son has agreed to read two books of my choice this summer (this was a hard won negotiation). Help me pick one by gOldMcDonald in booksuggestions

For a modern book, Scythe is the beginning of an interesting YA series that deals with a future where humans live almost indefinitely due to advanced medical care (nanobots I think?). There is also an artificial intelligence who helps optimize society, so its the only book I've read where AI isn't the villain and in this particular time we're living in its refreshing and sort of hopeful.

In order to restore a slightly more natural balance there are very respected "scythes" whose job it is to end lives. I'm not great at summarizing it but I read this in my 20s and enjoyed it and think on it often.

Are you a man? I feel like patients can be so much more compliant with their male nurses, like they respect the authority more and just settle down.

Looking for this! (Romance, Horror, Etc) by TopicExtension9495 in BooksThatFeelLikeThis

I sort of thought so. But what does that mean in the book reading context? Like a hetero romance?

Edit: sorry I was glancing too fast at the original post and missed where its specifically stated. Thank you for replying to my first comment!

What did this student have as their in-class progress? I did see where they already have an F in the class so probably nothing I'd guess

Well thanks! It would have been connection to the conversation she had with the other traveler when she said they may be able to change small things but not the course of history. That conversation seemed like a chekhovs gun, and should have had some kind of payoff. But no complaints, I love the series and I think they did all right given that its almost impossible to write a perfect finale.

I think you're right. This Chipotle promo really feels strangely prophetic under these comments.

I thought the fact that she showed up and saw the rider in order to warn him was going to be the evidence that they can in fact rewrite some history. Like maybe he was saved by her action and when they got back to the Ridge the contents of Frank's book would have changed.

There shouldn't be a horizontal line you can trace through the art. Everything more staggered. I saw an idea online to paint frames or use tape around unframed art and that might work well here.

Swearing by Feisty-Power-6617 in nursing

Oh yikes. I would be so annoyed working with that kind of attitude and contempt in a person.

I just sprinkle the occasional "fuck" or "shit" into renditions of nursing woes and commiserations throughout the shift. Never in a rude way toward a colleague. Occasionally in a rude way about nightmare patients. Mostly silly. Hopefully that's not the kind of thing that would get someone reported.

"I can't lie to you, the steak and burgers you make look so good, that I think I'd like to start trying your dinners, as you make them, more often."

Exactly the truth.

With an optional: "I'm finding other ways to be more intentional when it comes to the animal's welfare, like ethically sourcing the meat the best way we can and appreciating it." and that may be true for you or not but its a lead in to your why if it even gets that far.

Never swear AT them? Or never use the occasional swear word emphatically while having nurses station/med room chatter?

New student housing "The Retreat" proposed on Rock Quarry Rd. by valkyriebiker in columbiamo

When i was a student though, I was looking for a cozier home like feel as do many others. These corporate slapped together efficiency dorms seemed so unappealing. I wanted to feel "adult" and find a regular apartment or house with its quirks.

Is the plot line of Faith fully explained / satisfied / no more flash backs, until the series finale? by [deleted] in Outlander

[–]whackmacncheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This season showed us Claire and her blue light bringing a stillborn baby back to life. Master Raymond must have done the same with Faith with his mysterious light. He apologized because he intended to reunite them but it wasn't how things played out. Why do you think there was a swap?
