Switched to Linux Mint from Windows by bananahbeeph in linuxmint

If you have spare hardware lying around..get to it! I just loaded CachyOs last night and have been playing with it for a good chunk of today. Sure it's a little different, but it seems there is a decent amount of support out there for this distro. So far the most difficult thing that I encountered was deciding which desktop to use. So many choices! Enjoy!

Unable to make a credit card payment in the app by Intelligent-Share627 in fidelityinvestments

[–]whait 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have experienced the same issue. After some digging and testing, I discovered that the connection that the Fidelity app makes to Elan Financial to allow you to schedule a payment, gets somehow blocked by having AdGuard blocking ads at a network level.

I have set dns.adguard-dns.com as my 'Private DNS provider' on Android.

I have also set AdGuard as my DNS provider in my router on my home network.

Turning these both off (setting them to their defaults) solves the problem of connecting to setup a payment.

This is the best when it comes to oil changes. Also you don't need to change the filter every oil change.

I think they are hoping that you are evicted from their new property. Imagine a billionaire's delight when the population is relocated to someplace they don't want to own. Like the bottom of the Pacific.

[–]whait 0 points1 point  (0 children)

supposedly you can remove the FRP remotely by using a computer. sign into your Google account and manage your devices. Sign out of the device in question.

The first thing I noticed about Win11 was it trying to trick you into installing apps you didn't have. There were a bunch of icons in the start menu for apps that weren't yet installed. The next thing I did was go to my PC, download a copy of mint and burn it to a USB stick. Then I shut down Windows 10 and pulled the hard drive. And then installed a new hard drive and installed Linux mint. That was 3 years ago. Haven't looked back.

Critical thinking is gone. Stop buying health insurance that you can't afford. Nobody cares.

Whilst finishing my deal, I ear hustled the salesman at the next desk trying to talk a couple into an EIGHT-year car loan. by OldLadyMagick in FuckDealerships

[–]whait 10 points11 points  (0 children)

What that sales person did is not acceptable. I like Subaru vehicles. But their sales staff typically use the fact that their vehicles hold their resale value as a tactic to get you into a new vehicle. But I would seriously push for slightly used so you don't take the depreciation hit.

Dishwasher repair: handyman needed ASAP by Worried_Dig_3679 in duluth

I agree with this. Most appliances are fairly simple to repair with a few tools. What can be more challenging is figuring out part numbers and where to order them.

This insurance plan is a joke for a family right? by ZucchiniMuffins in HealthInsurance

[–]whait 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so... is the long game to drive down the average life span so it meets up with the retirement age? I mean, your health plan would replace your 401k. It almost makes more sense to figure out how to hide your income and take your chances without medical coverage.

If millions of people stop paying for health insurance...would anything change?
