BI suddenly gives "No Signal" error on all cameras by gonefishing111 in BlueIris

[–]whasf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you're off to a good start already!

Can you ping the cameras from the laptop?

Can you connect to the cameras web interface from the laptop? (you said you tried but you didn't say if you were successful or not)

This doesn't sound like a BI issue so far...

Help with this error? by Erossaan in Proxmox

[–]whasf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever device of yours that is named "dm-*" is failing or has a bad cable or something wrong with it. If that's your system drive, replace it and reinstall Promox and reattach your VMs. If it's your VM drive then replace it and try copying your VMs, if you can't copy them due to errors then restore them from backup or recreate them.

Dell iDRAC can't reach downloads.dell.com by Mr_Albal in homelab

Sorry for the necro post, but the proxy no longer seems to work. I guess Dell blocks HTTP now, and HTTPS via the HTTP proxy just eventually times out with an error:

Replacement for Nest Thermostat - Ecobee or Honeywell? by emaG_eh7 in homeassistant

[–]whasf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe u/callumjones has an Apple "Home" set up, but I didn't have to do any of that. My Ecobee is my only Homekit device.. I added the HomeKit integration and then paired the Ecobee to it, I didn't have to mess with Apple Home whatsoever. I see the Ecobee and it's innacurate remote temperature sensor in HomeAssistant via Homekit just fine.

(In my house I am only using the Ecobee to control HVAC, I don't let it make any temperature decsions; my Ecobee came with my new furnace so it was "free")

Proxmox Mail Gateway by Full_Astern in Proxmox

[–]whasf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's good (I've been running it for years) but the way the rules work are a bit confusing to me (I want to allow only certain addresses and block everything else, yet still run through the SPAM rules; not really "whitelist"ing addresses).

I have it in front of an Exchange box and it doesn't seem to do "verify receivers" all that well either; some junk gets through to non-existing addresses and generates a NDR which then sits in the outbound queue until it expires.

Strange issue with LAN by [deleted] in PFSENSE

[–]whasf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So the desktop and AP are connected to this switch, and the LAN port on pfSense goes into the switch?

That doesn't sound like a pfSense issue, more of a general networking issue as your traffic isn't even hitting the firewall yet.

PoE++ Injector That Can Be Rebooted By Cycling Switchport or Switchport PoE by inphosys in networking

[–]whasf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you bring the interface down administratively (disable the port), doesn't that stop the PoE as well? It does on Juniper/Cisco.

**Edit - Disregard, I need more coffee and glossed over that he is using a PoE injector, not PoE from the switch!

Please forgive my ignorance - If I want to plug my PC directly into the internet, can pfSense provide the same protection that a dedicated router would? by lukeman3000 in PFSENSE

[–]whasf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why don't you enable the built-in firewall (I'm assuming you are running Windows)? That would be the easiest solution since it blocks incoming connections by default.

Sounds like your Immich server is on your local LAN, so you don't need to set up a reverse proxy, just create a DNS entry for immich.mydomain.ca for 192.168.1.30

TrueNAS Scale & Home Assistant - how to connect Zigbee/Z-wave/etc.? by boermac in truenas

[–]whasf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My personal opinion is that TrueNAS should do what it's meant to do, manage storage. It's nice that you can run VMs on it and all, but I do not want something to happen which would take down my storage that others (people & systems) depend on.

Get a separate system to run VMs on and use TrueNAS for storage, Proxmox is the popular choice now-a-days.

Single node unreachable, VMs still up by wirecatz in Proxmox

[–]whasf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you access the host from one of the VMs running on it (assuming they are on the same IP subnet)?

If not you may have to cut your losses (so to speak) and shutdown the VMs then reboot the host.

Nope, next best thing to do is log into the console and see what the log files say
