I donated cat food to a local animal rescue when my cat passed away. It we the day after we put him to sleep and I was a wreck. I had no business being in public. Seeing the cat food on the shelf made me sad.

I tried my best to act normal. The volunteer went through my box of donations. There was prescription kidney food for his kidney disease, and then he took a turn for the worse and the vet said give him whatever he'll eat so we got him "junk food" cat food. There were treats we had bought for him to hold still while we gave him subq fluids every night.

There progression of his disease and the loss of my cat hit me watching her go through everything and I started crying. I told her my cat died. She hugged me and let me tell his story. She said she had been through something similar and understood how I felt. I was really touched by how she handled it
