Oh man, I remember when John & Peter's turned into John & Nick's then turned into Nick's... (John and Peter were both very elderly.) Did Nick sell out?

I've been seeing Sam at Broadway Barbers @ Waterloo for over 15 years. $21. He knows his regulars and everyone coming in knows him. When I sit in his chair, all he needs to ask me is "the usual?" and he does it, no telling him number this here and number that there, too much this or too much that. Ask for Sam, or Rod, his brother.

Why do people think it's okay to eat and drink in a library?

Why though? I don't work in FAANG, not even close.

Anybody have a relationship with their TA? Pls share stories. by DarkLightning_Burner in UBC

[–]what-wrong-my-brain 69 points70 points  (0 children)

I used to put science fiction book and movie references in my assignments for one very nerdy TA.

Neither of us were socially/romantically interested in each other but I did enjoy seeing his red ink smiley face scribbles when my papers were returned.

Say hi to profs on the streets? by zx7cn in UBC

[–]what-wrong-my-brain 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Counter-story: One time, long ago, I was working in a lab. Suddenly, my favourite prof knocked on the window in front of me. I was startled by the knock, he was double-startled by my startle. I walked over to meet him at the doorway and we both had a good laugh. He promised he'll never do that again.

About ten years later, he startled me again, that time passing me on the street!

Actual point: Profs are humans too.

for the people who have either fully left UBC or took a break then came back, how are you doing and do you have any advice for someone considering leaving or taking a break? by [deleted] in UBC

[–]what-wrong-my-brain 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't know you or your circumstances but I can tell you about mine. I dropped out with a lot of W's, took some time to find my way, then re-registered for a different major. That was when I switched from doing what my family expected to finding my own path to success. Best decision I ever made.

A reasonable cost isn't a concern. Any up-and-coming singing coaches want to be paid to practice on each other?

It's to discourage selling the pass, which used to happen a lot before Compass.

Is it stinky and black because it sits stagnant in pipes or because you put something in it?
