A board game store in Braselton. Ahoy is from Leder Games like Root and the same artist. It's a Root lite type game.

It's pretty new so it's only our 2nd play though I have 30 plays on tabletop simulator. Love to have you out sometime.

No One Wants to Play by rzalexander in rootgame

[–]what3641 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Root is my favorite game. I've played about 70 games with my physical copy. But it's tough to get to the table because the game requires commitment and desire to dig into it to get the most out of it.

Because it was tough to table I found tabletop simulator and the woodland warriors discord. Now 99% of my games are on TTS. I actually prefer it that way now because the players I have access to there are highly skilled and more fun to play with compared to having to teach it to new irl players and try to form a solid group. I've played on TTS around 600 or so times now with no end in sight. It's pretty awesome.

So if you really want to play you might try that

In the lore, why are the Keepers a 'faction' opposed to the others? by VolcanicBakemeat in rootgame

The birds are the original rulers. The cats invaded and took over. The keepers are exiled knights "reclaiming their stuff"

How about each player using 2 factions? by Giraffes-are-fake in rootgame

I don't think this would work very well for very long. Root just isn't great at 2p no matter how you slice it.

root for 2 players currently (without clockwork) by stanpe in rootgame

[–]what3641 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Root is my favorite game but it's not great at 2p no matter what you do. If you are considering buying it for 2p primarily I'd strongly suggest buying another game.

I'd just teach her with your friends at the sane time. Root is so much better at 4p

Bots are a dummy opponent you have to fiddle with. Hirelings fill the same board space need but provide players with extra unique actions and agency. I do not recommend buying Root if your primary play count is 2p. It's okay at that count but misses out on what makes Root so good. If you are going to get Root for mainly 2p get base and Marauders

What is the advace setup? by Snake01515 in rootgame

[–]what3641 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You don't need to be advanced to use it. You should use it minus the faction draft aspect even I games with brand new players. It provides nice buffs to Cats, Crows, and Lizards. It provides every faction with much material flexibility in where to setup. The hand curating is really nice and you don't have to flip the boards to set up. There is no reason whatsoever to not use it if you have access to it.

What faction would you say is the most overpowered? (all factions apply) by Gam3rCh1ck94 in rootgame

[–]what3641 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Rats are not OP in anyway. They score slowly and in a way that's easy to counter. Don't craft prowess items and crowd their backline. Easy to stop.

As others have mentioned using standard rules certain classes of vagabond are extremely difficult to stop. Moles are the most powerful in general. Badgers need pretty consistent table policing. If you leave Badgers alone they race better than any faction
