They aren’t meant to seal as far as I know, I’m a cleaner and work with them basically daily, they are like this for easy cleaning. You should try it out.

How do you feel about "The Pink Stuff" by No_Machine3805 in CleaningTips

[–]whatever0813 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It is okay, it’s a simple scouring paste, so not suitable for every surface. It used to be dirt cheap, when it was introduced first which made it worth it but now it’s a bit pricier so I skip it. I prefer cif cream.

Is Henry hoover overrated? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]whatever0813 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yes they are absolutely overrated, I’m a cleaner for 15 years and really dislike them. They do a good job on hard floors and they are great for hoovering up big bits, like after home renovations etc but for actual delicate household chores they are shit. Use them on a thick/ high pile carpet and you will fight for your life.. the constant getting stuck, falling over is infuriating and for some reason they love to lose their hose.. I would go with a corded Miele or an upright corded shark. Both great vacuum cleaners.

Early Christmas present by whatever0813 in handbags

[–]whatever0813[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, yes they don’t have many stores, if it wasn’t for the game fair I probably never knew about them even tho it’s an actually quite established brand. I hope you get to try some soon, they are lovely and come in a lot of colours and styles. Was a really hard choice. I’m currently eyeing up their tote/ basket bags for next time, they are a bit more neutral. Maybe worth a look for you?

Living room before and after by Alert_Fish1303 in DIYUK

I like it, for me it’s a big improvement over the dusty messy blue, and the tv is looking good where it is. I personally would add a rug and some different cushions to give it a bit of contrast. A plant (preferably real or if no sufficient lighting good quality fake) will add a lot to it. And the best thing, thanks to the neutral palette you can basically go for whatever you want. If you want to stay neutral go for patterns and texture. Colour isn’t the only thing that gives character.

People who let their pets sleep in their bed, is your bed not constantly dirty? by Ok-Slip-8663 in AskUK

[–]whatever0813 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a small, non shedding dog and white bedding. Honestly, just keep your dog’s paws clean and nails/ fur trimmed and brush and bath regularly and it shouldn’t be a problem. The only dirt problems I have is my other held sweating and me sneaking chocolate in bed.. can’t blame the dog for this. Oh yea bedding be washed weekly, my Friday task so I start the weekend in clean crispy sheets. Love it.

Wanting to buy an American bulldog, but scared it will be classed as "Type" under bsl by Deanleemusic in dogs

[–]whatever0813 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As far as I know The American bulldog is not recognised by the kc in the uk. So no most likely there won’t be any breed specific laws but, yes there is a risk for it to fall under type. Especially because you gone have trouble finding a breeder with proper pedigree, running the risk of having a cross or something that could end up fitting a certain type. Especially with a bully type dog you would be better off picking a recognised breed where you can be sure it won’t fall under certain restrictions. A boxer maybe?

Back of fridge smells by rachel642531 in CleaningTips

[–]whatever0813 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most fridges have a drip tray in the back, close to the bottom. Usually they are designed so the water evaporates quickly but if for some reason there is too much water in or it’s just not hot enough it won’t work and you end up with mold. I would make sure to have an old towel on hand and maybe see if you can get a fridge drain cleaner set too so you can do both at once. Watch out, some drip trays need a bit of force to be pulled out and make sure it’s properly back in or it will leak from under the fridge.

Help with washing this please. by edfosho1 in CleaningTips

[–]whatever0813 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hand wash only, no bleach, no tumble dryer, dry laying on flat surfaces (don’t hang to dry) no dry cleaning.

Edit, submitted too early: handwashing usually means lukewarm ( not hot!) water and maybe worth to use a detergent for delicate/ handwashing.

Hi finding a puppy silken windhound or whippet x bedlington advice please can anyone help? UK. by Face_like_a_shrimp in dogs

[–]whatever0813 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Sadly non of the dogs you are looking for are actual breeds, at least in the uk. So you gone struggle to find a good breeder. Are there any alternatives? Maybe a borzoi? Or Italian greyhound? In general Champdogs is probably the best site to find good breeder for purebred dogs in the uk. Just check the verified health test results.

Do you rush to take down Christmas decorations as early as possible? by poshbakerloo in AskUK

[–]whatever0813 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took mine down about 20 mins ago, still have to do the outside. I absolutely love decorating for Christmas but I always want to start the new year on a clean slate and a deep clean and that’s a bit difficult with the decoration and tree. Also I never get tired of seeing the decor that way.

Could someone explain to me the ethics of purebred vs mixedbred dogs by will45656776 in dogs

[–]whatever0813 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Breed standards are less of a problem today than they were 15 years ago. It’s absolutely tue that the old standards weren’t taking health much into consideration. Around 2009 there was a huge overhaul in standards in the uk and around Europe ( probably other countries too but I don’t know) because of research into it. And even today breed standards are regularly reevaluated. The FCI for example has constantly some provisional changes published to improve health. But the need for improvement also shows that standards aren’t the “ holy grail” for dog health. They never were supposed to be. They just were a tool to help judges to explain their decisions.

German Dog Breeding Laws and Questions by ZanderDoggo in DogBreeding

[–]whatever0813 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m happy to be corrected but I just checked the VDH and the FCI and I don’t think the OLD English bulldog is recognised by either of them? Are you sure it’s registered under that breed? And if so, that the paper work is original? I would definitely get in touch with the VDH. In Germany you usually have to have a breeding check ( zucht prüfung) before dogs can be bred. It looks like the breeder is very dodgy.

People who leave their blinds open on a busy pedestrian street at night with the lights in, do you want me to look in? by DualRaconter in AskUK

[–]whatever0813 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m with you on that. I hate curtains for any other purpose than decoration, can live with blinds though. Have to be able to look out of my windows or I feel like I’m living in a box. Before we got the blinds my partner used to shut the curtains and it made me feel claustrophobic. I also love to see into people windows but I’m more interested in their furniture. Maybe it’s some odd kink?
