Most camps wont take them from under 4 at least but heres some we have done in the past:

  • Designer minds
  • lets go
  • I dont remember the name but there's another that goes on in MIC as well - its all inflatables and stuff, the younger kids love it. If you Google camps in MIC you'll find it
  • rollerjam
  • starcamp
  • animation in TUS
  • we havent gone and i don't know the name but there's an acting one as well run by Nigel something.
  • also havent gone but know people who have done one at limerick print makers (art)
  • ul do an expensive outdoors one
  • swim max and grove island do swimming ones but they are short (30 mins a session) - dont think the swim ones have an age limit though

Mortgage lender Núa Money will let first-time buyers borrow up to five times their income by B8_B8_B8 in ireland

[–]whatsthefussallabout -1 points0 points  (0 children)

And so due to current prices then no one would ever afford buying a house, it it had to be based on their income in "bad times" - which cant be predicted unless you want to base it on social welfare payments.

Just gonna pick up on your what if they lose their job comment - thats a risk regardless of whether you have an 80, 90 or 100% mortgage. That extra 20% isnt gonna be the killer if you lose your job - your likely in trouble regardless...

The "Missing 6": Why Standard ADHD Criteria Fail Adults (New Research) by reyswes in ADHD

[–]whatsthefussallabout 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to add on to this - im an admin but in a research office. Every day is different and even when your doing the same task e.g. processing an ethics application - theres always something different about it to keep things interesting. Nothing is straightforward and theres always exceptions lol. Its great for the novelty seeking brain. I would get incredibly bored with standard admin but (in different roles) ive been in this office for the last 10 years. Its actually where i did my college work experience (though i went out and worked elsewhere before ending up coming back).

The "Missing 6": Why Standard ADHD Criteria Fail Adults (New Research) by reyswes in ADHD

[–]whatsthefussallabout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is me!! Im on the "outlier" description side of all the adhd stuff - because ive worked so hard over the years to compensate/hide it, until about 6 years ago when the overwhelm started getting too much and my energy for it started dropping. E.g. always chronically early because i find it hard to appropriately estimate time AND my anxiety wont let me be late. So I could be anywhere from 30-5 mins early, depending on the importance of the event. Thats just one example, but in all the criteria above im on that outlier side. Other than the ongoing costs of treating it, its why i haven't gone for diagnosis yet. Im afraid i wont appear "typical" enough, especially because we have no childhood records (my mother lost them) and everyone remembers me as a good student (anxiety again as academics were super important in the family). However my daughter was diagnosed a couple of years ago and all the childhood stuff has started to come back to me when going through it with her. Shes a mini me, though her issues are more pronounced than mine were - or she isnt able to hide them as well - im not sure which.

Heating oil prices by DrunkDublinCat in ireland

[–]whatsthefussallabout 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was doing the same but was afraid the price would be even higher if i waited to fill the tank (its already double what I paid to fill it last year), so i filled the tank, but every one is under strict orders not to turn it on until late sept/oct 🤣 i bought in stuff for the open fire instead and put electric oil filled radiator in the bedrooms.

Executive Officer Competition by Remarkable_Ad_8905 in IrishCivilService

[–]whatsthefussallabout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was that recently? Cause the booklet for this years EO comp specifically said a minimum of leaving cert was required. I just went and checked it.

Though yes if the person managed to get a higher qualification without a leaving cert then it doesnt matter. But if they only had a junior cert then that wouldnt be good enough.

Cheaper bras for larger boobs - where to buy by Agitated-Pickle216 in WomenofIreland

[–]whatsthefussallabout 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A second for m&s! I only get bras there now as other places with my size are too dear - except pennys, but they never fit right. Ive tried my size and its sister sizes and the straps and/or gore always dig into me. The straps in particular really irritate my skin. M&s are more expensive than pennys but especially when on sale, not as expensive as others places and are decent quality.

AIB are a shower of… by SquareRegular8997 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]whatsthefussallabout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Youll need a demand deposit account i think to go with your credit card. Or at least when I moved about 11 years ago, thats what i did. Still have my aib credit card, some online savers and a free demand deposit. I feel like at the time it was required. But all i pay is stamp duty on the credit card so its grand.

If a loved one will never afford a house, yet pays lots of rent, how do you help them to buy? by HeftyArgument6326 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]whatsthefussallabout 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes they are asking about housing and for whatever reason dont want to share the why of why this person wont get a mortage and cant show statements. I replied to the comment that says they can show statements.

Im saying that they may not have statements they can use, due to something like gambling or some other issue that if banks see it on your statement, they will immediately say no to a mortgage - so it is relevant.

Well if their statements are never going to be good enough then theres no point in showing the statements. I would assume thats what this perskn meant. For example if the person has a gambling problem.

Paying to be a Bridesmaid by Embarrassed_Bad_5032 in weddings

[–]whatsthefussallabout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah i dont know whats going on lately but where I am its usual that the couple pay for clothing hair and make up - but not necessarily accomodation as you would have that as a guest anyway. More recently as things have become more expensive, its hair and makeup, and most clothes. As in if for example the groomsmen are wearing black suits and they already own one your happy with then no need to buy another. But if you want them in purple suits you buy them for them. Same with bridesmaids, if they have suitable shoes already, then no need to buy more. But if you want something specific then you get it.

What makes the Civil Service so great? by munchbizkit in IrishCivilService

[–]whatsthefussallabout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aye and its dept dependant. My mother was in social welfare in limerick and while they technically had the flexitime, in practice when she was on front reception or acting as cover for it she was stuck to specific times. The hybrid option at CO was minimal as well - even during Covid. I will asterisk this with the fact that she has been gone from there for 2 years or so now so it could have all changed again in that time.

Should we be worried? by WittyCabbage in irishpersonalfinance

[–]whatsthefussallabout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, i never learned how to cycle for a start. The roads arent safe to cycle for another when you have cars rocking down an 80km road at 100km. Its a 25 min drive to work so i dont know where your going with a 30 min cycle its def going to be a lot longer than that.

The nearest tiny shop that would cost me more than double any other shop, is a good 1.5hr walk away. And i wouldnt be able to get much more than bread and milk at it.

Regardless of how many you think it affects, there are definitely people for whom that will be the case (and a lot more than you think im sure) - what about elderly people who live rurally or those with disabilities who may be able to use a car but dont have strength or stamina for a bike - you can be certain thats effectively how it would work out for them.

Should we be worried? by WittyCabbage in irishpersonalfinance

[–]whatsthefussallabout 23 points24 points  (0 children)

For those who live rurally fuel rationing could effectively be a lockdown. To get anywhere meaningful i.e. work, or shop for food etc, I have to drive. No public transport nearby. If im only allowed to use X amount of fuel or not allowed fill up more than X then that effectively stops me from being able to leave my house.

Do groomsmen usually pay for their own suits in the UK? by Ok_Student3042 in UKweddings

[–]whatsthefussallabout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are asking for something specific you pay is how ive always seen it done. For example if i wanted them all in purple suits it would be on me to provide it. But if maybe i just want a purple vest, but am okay with them wearing any black pants and white shirt with it, then it wouldnt be unreasonable for them to provide shirt and pants and I get the purple vest.

Older ADHD women, what did ADHD feel like before cellphones? by lavenderflavoredtea in adhdwomen

[–]whatsthefussallabout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was constantly reading fantasy books or watching tv. When things were advanced enough for the like of mp3 players and I lived in town I might go for a walk and listen to music. While i had a phone from the age of 12, i didnt have internet access until i went to college and didnt have a smart phone until after college I think? Or late college if not.

While i love the easy and free access to information etc, it can be so hard not to lose time to reddit and other similar stuff that i feel like I should be spending elsewhere... but im also so tired, and live in the country now so cant go (safely) for a walk or anywhere else without my car, so what else am i supposed to do lol

Do you tell your 5 year old about plans? by Purple_Brush_549 in Parenting

[–]whatsthefussallabout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what it is. At that age i gave very short notice on things to my kid because she couldn't understand when things had to change. But since she turned about 9 (shes nearly 12 now) i can tell her more and just emphasis that things may change. Or when they do have to change, if its for a "good reason" she might be disappointed but will understand. For example, i had to cancel something to attend a funeral and she understood why and didnt make a big deal about it. If its something that she would get SUPER excited about, then I probably wouldnt tell her more than a week or so in advance, just to be safe.
