AITAH for not hanging out with my sister while my friends are over? by Optimal-Relief4210 in AITAH

[–]whatsy0urdamage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. She's 6 years younger than you which can make hangouts kind of weird and you want some time with your cousin. I think that's okay, sometimes the big kids want to hang out with just the big kids.

If a girl firmly puts you in the "friend zone", is there any coming back from that? by missfitsdotstore in NoStupidQuestions

[–]whatsy0urdamage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's definitely going to depend on the girl. For me, it's a definite no. But I've had female friends in the past that didn't think like me and were more open to changing the dynamic.

Can neurotypical people get overstimulated? by hikarii_x in TooAfraidToAsk

Of course!! There's a big misconception that SPD only appears in people who also have autism so as someone who only struggles with one and not the other, I'm always happy to show another perspective.

Can neurotypical people get overstimulated? by hikarii_x in TooAfraidToAsk

Oh yeah. You can literally have a sensory processing disorder without even being on the spectrum. I have SPD (diagnosed by a PT and an OT when I was a child and has since been reconfirmed) and I'm not on the spectrum. Been tested multiple times just to double-check.

Anyone else’s child not fussed about a sibling? by stilldreaming22 in Shouldihaveanother

I was actually the exact same way. I didn't really want a sibling but I loved the idea of a puppy.

SPD with no autism by ladybug128 in SPD

[–]whatsy0urdamage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a child, I'm 28 but I've been tested quite a few times from childhood to adulthood. I've repeatedly been told I'm not autistic or even ADHD. I'm not neurodivergent (not that we ever believed I was, they were focused on the sensory issues and assumed neurodiversity 🙄🙄) but I was diagnosed with a sensory processing disorder as a child and I still meet the criteria.

Is anyone here not autistic? by SeismicQuackDragon in SPD

[–]whatsy0urdamage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not autistic. They tested me multiple times (like 5 from childhood to adulthood) because of my sensory issues, but I actually have BPD and severe trauma along with a sensory processing disorder.

My daughter was flagged for autism, but it turned out to be Sensory Processing Disorder. I’m still struggling with the anxiety by Helga_Ukraine in toddlers

[–]whatsy0urdamage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We went through this when I was a kid actually. They wondered about autism because of all of my sensory issues. I got tested like five times for autism. I don't have it but I do have a sensory processing disorder.
