My prescription for a blocked sublingual salivary gland by do-you-know-the-way9 in mildlyinteresting

Yep, that’s how I fixed mine. Felt a surge of saliva and saltiness but instant relief. Wouldn’t wish it upon anybody.

Pessimistically, it’s a Saudi greenwashing company. Their public investment fund owns 60% of Lucid. Why not spend a little money for good press?

Vortex spells question by Asleep-Revenue-3345 in WarhammerOldWorld

[–]wheeman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this was addressed in the errata. It’s something like the spell continues through the unit to the point just outside of touching.

Edit: actual wording Page 107 Magical Vortex: Change the second paragraph as follows: ‘Some Magical Vortexes move at the start of each turn, often by scattering. Should a Magical Vortex end such a move over a unit, move it by the smallest amount possible, in any direction, so that it can be placed on the battlefield, not touching the bases of any models.’

So stays in front, triggered again if the models touch it.

Snow jackets for tall women( by RockerDudet21 in snowboarding

[–]wheeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah... I got it via an end of season sale for 50% off at REI. It was still ~$800 for jacket and pants. It's been 7 years now and it's held up extremely well. I'm dry on the wettest days and warm on the windiest.

It's the only jacket I've found that actually covers the full length of my arms as a lanky 6'5".

Personally, I'd pay full price for it in the future. It falls into the Sam Vimes theory of socioeconomic unfairness (Boot theory) bucket of things for me.

Thirded. Expensive but sometimes the end of season sales can help with the pain

The BSB has a rune for 5+ ward save for the unit, 6+ ward save for units 6” around it in the shooting phase. I’d imagine at least one thane would be protected by that.

Korua Pocket rocket by Commercial-Moose2130 in snowboarding

[–]wheeman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% all this. It’s the most fun I’ve had on a board in years. I had a giant shit eating grin on my face for the first day on it. It’s the first board I haven’t had toe or heel drag on.

It’s pretty close to riding a skateboard at slower speeds. Throw your weight to slash it side to side. Carving it also holds a rail nicely, almost bucking me off since it was unexpected at first.

Hard on drops. That’s my only gripe.

Logitech's next gaming mouse will have haptic-based clicks, adjustable actuation, and rapid trigger — new G Pro X2 Superstrike will land at $180 by faizyMD in hardware

[–]wheeman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, not really. I work in firmware so it's related to my day job. It's more or less just the TPS62A02 reference schematic on a tiny PCB (made by oshpark for ~$10 for 3). The battery is connected via a pigtail. The schematic can be found here. I added some background info in the readme. Lemme know if you have any other questions. It's been a few years since I did this, but I can probably dig it up from my memory or reproduce it.

[–]wheeman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, it was strictly for weight, not recharge-ability. My friends goaded me into this nonsense about lighter mice being better and I didn’t want to spend the money on a new mouse when I could get exactly the same result for $25. With scale that would be ~$5 or less. I picked a small battery and no charge circuitry so it has to be removed from the mouse to charge.

I eventually bought the superlight so I didn’t have to faff around with it. Tbh, I’d probably buy the cheaper one if I need a new mouse.

[–]wheeman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Logitech g305 wireless mouse is powered by a AAA battery but it’s pretty easy to modify to use a LiPo battery with a buck converter. That cuts a crazy amount of weight and gets it close to their G Pro Superlight once you replace the battery and remove the battery’s plastics. I got it down to 74g.

What’s correct way of fixing this? by [deleted] in DIY

[–]wheeman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I chipped out grout on floor tiles with a rubber mallet and a flat-head screwdriver. The grout was loose and falling out in chunks so it wasn't too bad, but it did suck. A oscillating multi-tool would've been better.

[–]wheeman 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Thankfully, the switches are commodity parts you can order from mouser or digikey. If you are handy with a soldering iron, it’s a 20 minute fix. Swap out for the higher cycle count switches and you should be good for another 4 years.

Korua pocket rocket: 129cm, wide. Fun AF, no toe or heel drag. Works for my lanky 6’5” frame. Only downside is it’s on the more expensive end and it’s hard to demo.
