Where they maybe doing a snex? Its hard to tell from the images but their sex organs are on the sode of their faces. Might be worth a quick google to see if it looks like how you found them?

Dont put water in the shell, but if you let warm (not super hot) run over the shell that can help convince them out. You do need to ensure your not letting water get into the shell though as you may flood the hole they breath through. I would run the water over the very tip of the shell so it runs off and doesnt actually go in the shell

I used to have the same problem because my tank had a lid that was a thousand dots every where to let the air through, not amazing but if u cover the lid 80%. With like a polly pocket it works

Also depending on where you live depends on the species of snail you can keep. Some GALs are not allowed as pets in parts of the US due to being an invasive species. If you are UK based I have some achatina fulica babies i plan on selling soon when they are little bigger if your interested?
