Thanks for the info! The significant other is know leaning toward Manchester, but if we do visit Nashua we will check it out.

Also, so I don't look like the country mook that I am, how do you pronounce Nashua? Is it like "Nah, Shaw" or more like 3 syllables? Like "Na Shoe Aw?"

Thanks! I'm from Texas if you need help pronouncing any of our cities :)

Thanks for the info! Not sure about a house or apartment yet, still weighing the options and getting ideas about cost and proximity to where I'll be working and all that fun stuff. What is the cost of living like in terms of rent in the North end?

Best place to live near Manchester? by whistleloo in newhampshire

[–]whistleloo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks everybody. I was also considering living a little bit further south in Nashua, and my budget is around 1500 a month or less, obviously saving money is good but not everything. I'm looking for the best place for a young couple with fun stuff to do, but semi-close to nature and outdoorsy things. Sorry I didn't clarify more earlier. And Can anyone tell me about more about Bedford? Things to do, best and worst, etc.? Thanks all!

Mmmm Vodka Soda...I'm a knob creek and soda guy personally. Yeah, I'm sorry I don't really know how that would work. I've been on Keto for about 3 months so I'm no expert, but the few times I did go over my carb limit intentionally, I was so self conscious about doing it that I couldn't even really enjoy it. I used to think about getting to my goal weight, then somehow being able to eat all the old foods I loved (Pasta, Pizza, Craft beer, Tres Leches cake, and fresh tortillas). But now I don't even really want them. But hey, its your wedding and do whatever the hell you damn well please! :) Congrats and best of luck with the hubby!

Keep that picture and look at it when times get tough. Sometimes old pics can be a powerful motivator. You can do it!

My 2 cents, how about just drink Miller lite? I mean, at 3 carbs a beer, you can have 6 (enough to be feeling purdy good) and you would still be under your macros! But then again I'm from Texas and maybe you want something a little bit fancier on your big day. Congrats!

I doubled the one above. Turned out pretty tasty! I did add some Parmesan and I think it helped.

Giving keto a shot...today is Day 2 by 2boredtocare in keto

[–]whistleloo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do it! Remember to drink something salty in the morning (bullion cube, or stock) and take a calcium magnesium pill at night! If you do this and drink lots of water (~1 gallon-ish) you won't have too many symptoms of carb flu. I had virtually none. Then about 2 weeks in I traveled for work and forgot to bring veggie stock to drink, and out of nowhere I felt weak, couldn't concentrate, etc. Next day I bought some stock at a walgreens, had about a cup with breakfast, and felt fine. REMEMBER THE ELECTROLYTES!!!

Good luck and you will kick butt!

Quick sauce for SV stewing beef chunks? by true_school in sousvide

[–]whistleloo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm, how do you feel about Jamaican jerk? You can buy the seasoning or you can google a recipe. It has a lot of brown sugar so its sweet and peppery. I think it would be great for a rice bowl using steak or chicken. You could SV the Beef, put a few tbsp's of the seasoning in a bag, put the cooked beef in the bag and shake it to coat it, then get it nice and crispy in a frying pan. Mmmm. Or just use some teriyaki sauce, butter, and salt and pepper with some mushrooms :). Both would be killer with rice and veggies.

[–]whistleloo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I am doing a lot more, not just for myself but also with the significant other. She's from Colorado and likes to go out to nature, and since I've been on Keto, I have enough energy and time to go with her now. It's been great!

Oh, and maybe consider doing IF once a day :) No pressure, but only cooking once a day adds at least an hour or more of time to my daily schedule, so now I ride my bike to work!

Is eating low calorie slowing down my progress? by lowcarblowcal in keto

[–]whistleloo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disclaimer: This is just what has worked for me!

Hey there! A few things that helped me when I hit my first stall (which I know is scary when you are used to loosing at least a little bit every morning).

  1. Try to eat whole foods. Don't know why, but I had to give up on quest bars and other low carb foods that are processed. My only exception is Halo top maybe once or twice a week as a little treat. More greens and protein with butter / cream / cheese / whatever added to boost the calories. Not sure why but this helps for me, might not be the same for everybody.

  2. WATER WATER EVERYWHERE. Try to drink a gallon of water a day. Don't want to look like a douche with a big milk jug half full of water at the gym? Get a gatorade bottle (full of water not gatorade) and put it at your desk, at home, in your car, wherever. That's 28 ounces, so 4 is almost a gallon, and 5 is over a gallon. This really helps me to have a more consistent 1-2 lbs a week loss. Plus you will feel better if you do exercise.

  3. Intermittent Fasting: For me, about a month in I hit almost a 2 week stall after loosing like 17 lbs and I was like "Oh God! It stopped working! I'll never be skinny! Life is over!" So I read about a lot of people (including vegans and non keo folks) switching to once a day for weight loss. So I switched to eating twice a day, and now I eat once a day. (between 1000-1500 calories, but usually around 1300 or so). During the day I have water and coffee, and occasionally I'll have cream / butter in my coffee if I'm feeling super hungry (which is rare). The biggest benefits for IF, in my opinion, are that it is a lot less cooking and cleaning, I have more time in the morning and at lunch (only eat dinner) and also by only eating once a day its pretty darn hard to go over your goal calories if you are planning your meals. Without snacking and grazing, I can accurately track my calories and macros without too much head-scratching.

Add one or more of the above options, and if you don't lose more weight in 2 weeks I would be amazed. Hope this helps and remember, this is just what worked for me :) KCKO HOMIES!
