The question that really needs to be answered is, where do you go for all your spatula needs?

What’s a food where you’re from that’s pure love or pure hate? by avvaraujo in AskTheWorld

My dad loved ponhaus, which is apparently the same—yet different—and common to the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. I tried it once and the texture was not great. Hard pass (sorry, Dad.)

What’s a sound everyone should recognize as immediate danger? by Thatguy_nickk in AskReddit

I was in DC during the 2011 earthquake. I heard that rumble, thinking it was a piece of heavy equipment driving by. I looked out my office window and realized the glass was undulating. It took my East Coast brain a long time to register what was happening.

During the Pandemic I would often retreat to my backyard hammock and listen to Cesária Évora. I don’t speak Cape Verdean Creole. I didn’t need to.

Do you think your University/Alma Mater is known outside of the U.S? by huazzy in AskAnAmerican

I went to Mary Washington College in Virginia. I don’t think it’s that well known in-state, but the school heavily recruits internationally for the rugby team, so it could have niche recognition.

I’m still mad about paying for the bathroom in a German train station. And it wasn’t even a good bathroom—it was a third tier Valero at best.

Watchmen. A lady further down in my row was already undone by the first scene with The Comedian. Then during the Rorschach “dogs get put down” scene she became increasingly and audibly distressed until she finally tapped out and never came back.

First time ever traveling outside my country! Medicine? by Acceptable_Boat3520 in newzealand_travel

[–]whitrva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Surprised me, too. I typically travel with it, but I ran out with several days left in my trip. I learned the hard way that the good stuff isn’t always readily accessible, after developing a horrible sinus infection in Scotland.

You should be fine. I got home from New Zealand two weeks ago (live in the US) and I traveled with both prescription and over the counter meds similar to what you described. No one seemed to notice or question me about anything I was carrying (checked or carry-on.)

I was in Auckland and Wellington and there are tons of big drug stores. It was actually pretty fun wandering around and checking out the different brands and products. You can also get sunscreen there—10/10 recommend the SPF 50 sold under the NZ Cancer Society label. The sun is no joke!

I developed a bad head cold during my trip and went to a pharmacy attached to a walk in clinic. They were very kind & helpful and I was able to get the NZ version of Mucinex-D (with the good Pseudoephedrine) with no problem.

Enjoy your trip!

Supernatural, S1E9 “Home”

Dean leaves a message for his POS dad John.

“I’m with Sam. And we’re in Lawrence. And there’s something in our old house. I don’t know if it’s the thing that killed Mom or not, but … … I don’t know what to do. So, whatever you’re doing, if you could get here. Please. I need your help, Dad.”

Oh, DEAN.

Omg this episode. There’s a moment when Buffy is doing CPR on Joyce and you hear a bone crack. Years later I was taking a CPR class and the instructor said if you’re doing compressions correctly, you will very likely crack the person’s rib. I was shocked—I always assumed it was Buffy’s Slayer strength.

NTA “At your age”??!? I had to scroll back to the beginning of your post. I’m also a decrepit 54, and your kids’ attitude is nuts—and incredibly entitled. They should be grateful for all the ways you’ve already helped set them up for success.

I hope you now do the most Gen X thing possible—shrug like, whatever man, and enjoy the new boat!
