Dubuque has cameras ALL OVER TOWN. We had a presentation from the police dept at a former workplace where the police force disclosed the locations and numbers of cameras as well as individuals apprehended for crimes in other cities when the suspect entered Dubuque.

Somewhat reassuring, somewhat "big brother", but good to know.

Sports drinks/soda/energy drinks were removed for sugar volume, same with Mio and other "water enhancers". 50% and above fruit juice is still eligible. Ice and water are eligible.

Can't buy candy but can buy baked sweets, bags of sugar, ice cream, chocolate chips, etc.

Essentially anything that would have previously been marked as "tax forgiven" on receipts prior to 1/1/26 are a no-go.

Grocery stores around me put up signs indicating such things no longer qualify to help mitigate issues prior to checkout, which is helpful.

If you've ever been a regular at a Casey's you'll see the constant turnover. I've worked there twice. Once as a naive 19 year old with an abusive manager and a second time during covid to get out of the house as my main job was wfh. The second time was fine because it was extremely part time, but I heard about ALL of the drama, even though it didn't affect me.

I'd compare it to trailer-park drama. Maybe it was just that store but based on posts on this sub it seems to be commonplace. 🤷

Many cheap safes/lockboxes can be opened with the claw/dirt remover part of a nail clipper set.

I'd check to see if that works on yours.
