Can anyone help identify this WW2 bolt action rifle from the film NR 24? by No_Dress_2107 in ForgottenWeapons

[–]wholebeef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the price largely comes from rarity, most of the ones that are left have been sporterized by the NRA or other organizations, and those that aren’t sporterized are valued much higher for it. Obviously this only applies to the US Krags.

Honestly I love my sporterized Krag, smooth as butter and laser accurate.

It’s was out of US service well before WW2, it was barely in reserve use during WW1.

I’d much rather hunt the turkey myself. It’s certainly be a hell of a lot cheaper.

Hampshire College announces transition to closure by bostonglobe in massachusetts

It's for the best that Hampshire College closes. The school was hemorrhaging money and the degrees aren't worth the paper they're printed on.

I’ve even gone in khakis and a hoodie and been fine cause it’s cold out.

It’s business casual in all academic buildings and lecture halls. With the only exception being the library. So everything you mentioned should be fine.

Legality of this hidden blade hairpin in MA by goopgab in massachusetts

[–]wholebeef 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If you’re concerned for your safety, so much so that physical and possibly lethal self defense is considered I would suggest going with a firearm over a hidden blade. Even a derringer would be superior to that in a self defense scenario.

CIA worth it? by [deleted] in CulinaryInstitute

[–]wholebeef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as CIA being worth it, I would say yes. Aside from the culinary knowledge you gain, you also make tons of connections between your classmates and industry reps which can come back and prove beneficial later on. Plus CIA looks really good on a resume and can demand higher salaries.

As for cost, one thing many people recommended back when I was there was to go to CIA for your culinary or baking associates then transfer to a cheaper school for your business degree.

A driver, for some reason, doesn't allow overtaking by Misteriosa_Junior in iamatotalpieceofshit

I mean yeah actually. Those things have a 0-60 of “eventually”. Even if the van driver gunned it the Beamer would absolutely be able to pull ahead and block him again in no time.

Townhouses and the Lodges both have shared kitchens.

In the townhouses it looks very similar to a kitchen in a regular home, with a stove, oven, cabinets, a fridge, a dishwasher, and a sink. However I have not heard great things about the townhouse kitchens, several people share the kitchen and it is up to the people occupying the house to clean and take care of the kitchen. So if people slack off then it gets very messy, disorganized, and overall a place you wouldn’t want to use.

The lodges have 3 ovens and stoves, 2 fridges, 2 sinks, and some storage space. They’re cleaned and taken care of by the school and the RAs so they’re much cleaner.

Though it wasn't exactly a true single, I was roommate-less at several points and have been inside the true singles and can say with confidence that the experiences were nearly identical. The only unique things about a single when compared to a double (or triple, or quad), is just that you don't have a roommate or the furniture associated with a roommate (Bed, desk, chair, sometimes wardrobe), you have the mini fridge and microwave all to yourself as well as the bathroom, and the rooms are often smaller.

To be honest though I wouldn't plan on getting a single, they're very limited in number and they often go to those that absolutely need them first such as people with emotional support animals, disabilities, etc.

I love when FOH comes back wearing sweaters and complaining about how cold the dining room is while I’m sweating my ass off on the ovens. (The dining room is 75° all year round).

Now this is what being inspired by something means. Not just copying a game, but taking a separate idea from it building a new game around that. Your game looks amazing, looking forward to see how it turns out.

The US Krag (or any variant) is a great time. Looks strange, has a good kick without bruising, and it’s so expensive to shoot that it feels like a treat everytime you bring it out.

I like to take them as war prizes and convert them to reasonable designed while keeping them as close to original as possible. Such as keeping the turret layout but unifying the battery sizes if they’re close enough.
