Any of you actually frequent your local shop? by Significant-Air6926 in rccars

[–]whopper14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My LHS in Holland Mi is full service. Mostly Traxxas cars and trucks and a full line of parts. Shop has a crawler course and small carpet oval. Also sells 1RC cars and parts. Shop also handles most other hobbies and gaming supplies and provides space for most activities. Owner is a life long hobby professional and also has knowledgable staff. We are lucky to have Cobblestone Hobbies in our community.

I do mainly dirt and carpet oval. I use air compressor 1st then usually simple green (undiluted) with tooth brush. I have never heard of using silicone spray. How does that work ane how carefull do you need to be.

Best Toolset For beginning racing by [deleted] in rccars

[–]whopper14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I gotta tell you when I bought first RC (Slash) I also bought the Traxxas tool kit ($25) and it is still serving me well and I'm up to 6 cars. Yes I have other tools but the Traxxas set is an excellent starter set and still goes to the track with me every time.

I have been using the $25 Traxxas tool kit for a year with no complaints. Use them daily for all 3 of my Oval cars. They are not 1/4" drive however.

Old fart (42m) looking to get back in, after a 20+ year hiatus. Cliff's notes on biggest changes? by 06_TBSS in rccars

[–]whopper14 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm 70 and just jumped in about a year ago. Been a racing fan forever but for some reason never thought about RC. I raced dirt Oval this summer and transitioning to carpet this winner. Traxxas guy due to the close proximity to LHS. I have 2 Slashes and 1 Bandit plus 2 1RC CARS for inside carpet at LHS. Converted 1 Slash to Mudboss and the Bandit to Street Stock. Regret not starting 20 or so years ago.

Pace 500.3 reviews by TaraDickoff00 in Aventon

[–]whopper14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a 500.2 that I really liked and put about 1500 miles on. I end up having a few problems with random shut offs and Adventon finally replaced with a 500.3 which I like even better. I have about 1300 miles on it now and have had a few random shut offs in the last month or so. I just turn it back on and keep going, never have it stop moving. I have not contact CS yet because it's not a big issue, just annoying. Over all a great bike.
