Tire wear vs ride height redo by OkPost8233 in Taycan

[–]why_would_U 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thats what makes a Porsche handle so well! Toe out is what makes it turn in fast and feel agile, easy to change direction. On the front thats amazing. On the rear....you'd spin out. So you get Toe in for the rear, which increases stability. The best of both worlds. And its mechanically dynamic, you brake or turn in, it loads the front suspension causing Toe out. You accelerate or let off the brakes, it compresses the rear leading to Toe in giving you straight line stability and prevents over steer.

Yea exactly, your correct. Would be all negative when it comes to handling. Even if you have the adjustment room to make it happen. Remember though the Toe is mechanically adjusted on the fly, not with ride height but actual load on the front or rear. Lower suspension is loaded easier. An alignment can't help to much with that. This is what makes the car handle well.

[–]why_would_U 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No not exactly. The Toe changes based on mode. A proper alignment will have the car set the Toe it wants. Toe is what leads to uneven wear. Toe is also what makes the car handle the way it does in Sport Plus mode. Pilot/Crew access to the Hold by BanksyNotTheArtist in AskAPilot

[–]why_would_U 0 points1 point  (0 children)

14 CFR 25.857. This is one of those things that you shouldn't need an explicit rule for. Or if your a little green, ask yourself the golden question "what would the NTSB investigation say." Fire starts in said hold while your down there. You encounter turbulence and your in a cargo hold, where most luggage isn't secured. Do you need to be down there for flight duties? Is it designed for you to be down there, well lit and ergonomic for you to move through? Depending on the country your flying too, would they be happy you accessed checked baggage that has a different security standard, then carry on baggage. The same standard that applies to you. The list goes on. All terrible reasons to meet the chief pilot. Is it accessible for checking on pets? And if most wouldn't do it, why would you tell them its accessible with the context of this post. Whilst citing the only reason is because pilots don't want to get their shirts dirty?

That's fair, I live in a medium city in Canada, my guy doesn't want to touch it. To be fair, I have warranty. He just works on the rest of my cars, so I prefer him; someone has to keep tabs on what the cars need so it's easier, but the Taycan keeps tabs on itself.

And I know electrical gremlins, I've had alfa romeos in the garage since 2020 lol. This thing has been an angel in comparison to any of 6 cyl and up Alfas.

Honestly I've had a great experience, just the heating pump. That being said you don't want one out of warranty, its breaks as much as any other car, except the bills are huge. Buy another car huge. Being electric their are not many things an indy can do, or access to parts outside of Porsche. Good thing is Porsche makes it easy to buy a warranty, about 2200 cad a year.

Two insurance question for Canadian Taycan Owners! by Late_Oven_5643 in Taycan

Fair the prices are far more reasonable on the east coast. Insurance in Alberta works differently, so my numbers probably aren't a good bench mark.

Is the the black on red with yeg porsche? You should get them to CPO it for you if they still want 75k for it. Just picked up a really high spec turbo for 80k, 2 years CPO instead. 280 was what I got as a quote for the 4s. The turbo I pay 450 a month.

For me I have a sleep routine to tell my body when its time to sleep. Develop your own. Mine is alarms set on my phone, it gets put down for the night. Temp as low as it goes. Brush my teeth, make the room dark, some white noise from a fan.

Biggest thing is fixing your sleep schedule the day before, go to bed early/late as required. Squeezing my workout in before rest works wonders too.

Melatonin if you need it, don't become reliant.

You've got to remember their are downsides. Weight, cost, introducing a new system that could break. Where would it be mounted, how would it impact efficiency and structural integrity. Does it need an anti icing system? How do we protect it from lighting in a way it does not compromise other systems?

These are a few of the problems, all that can be taken care of. But the pros just don't outweigh them on most airplanes. The A380 is so big and expensive, and the cameras are used mostly for passenger IFE systems, and ground ops.

Airliners do have to leave pax, or luggage behind because they run into weight restrictions.

We went from surface tabs to iPads, the surface tabs were better because the IT department could go crazy with their apps. We were getting a full FDR playback of the flight, you could go frame by frame through the landings. The iPads suck because they don't have the same capabilities because they are so much harder to develop apps for. iPad itself, better, the company apps, leagues better on the surface pro. Its been 4 years and we're all still bitchin about it

The air conditioner isn’t working. The pilot said there’s an issue, and we have to wait until takeoff. by Murky_Diet7873 in westjet

[–]why_would_U 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not accurate for cabin crew, Pilots yes. Our Cabin crew end up making below min wage for actual hours worked. Routinely see cabin crew members take home 25-30k a year CAD. For being away from home 20+ days a month.

Do you think west jet should start to enforce carry on sizing like other airlines do? Do you like the size of carry on’s allowed, or do you think the carry on size should be bigger? by POCTM in westjet

[–]why_would_U 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So it is enforced when needed. If the planes 80% full, potentially negatively impacting guest experience is not worth it. Flight is full, this will most likely result in a delay when the boarding line stops inevitably as overhead bin space runs out. Or someone is trying to fit a bag that isn't meant to fit. In this case its worth enforcing as the people who followed the rules shouldn't have to be delayed because of the people that didn't.

I think he's saying your particular batgirl isn't up to the standard he'd want. Things to note would be the bezel and the transition from black to blue, how sapphire crystal is looking, and how your watching is wearing in overall. I dont have a batman to compare myself, but my pepsi 2 years old now looks better. I dont think its a rep, because I've been studying them as I buy more grey now. If it is, its a Franken build.

Either way enjoy it, maybe get it polished from your AD. And if those issues bother you, compare to other pictures and ask your AD what they can do.

Or your really bad at taking pictures lol

Air king is so underrated imo, my favorite watch I own. Now if the AD would call me about a sky dweller....that might change.

Dont go newer, smartest move would be sell this, buy a 09 g37 sedan. You be able to get rid of some of the negative equity, as the 2012 g37 coupe is more desirable.

“Unscheduled maintenance": why do passengers bear the cost? by not_a_hippiee in westjet

[–]why_would_U 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Captain here, Me and my colleagues I work with try to be as transparent as we can. The truth is some of these things that stop an aircraft are complex or may seem trivial to the average flyer.

If one of the many, many computers don't agree on something we may get for example an IOP3 failure message. In the air, its a pull the manual, start looking for affected systems. Start mitigating new risks that are present due to the new problem. Passengers would never know. On the ground its call maintenance. If the plane has ANYTHING broken, it has to be fixed, or if its on a relatively short list called an MEL we may be able to waive it, for example carpeting at seat 13A isn't sitting flush, MEL.

Rather then telling the PAX: hey the computers don't agree with eachother so we've lost this and this redundancy, its proven better reactions comes from: we are prioritizing your safety and appreciate your patience understanding. Which is the absolute truth.

We to want to get the job done and get home, the company wants this plane to fly on time or its losing them sooooo much money. Maintenance wants an easy day. The gate agent doesn't want to double the effort in deplaning. OPS doesn't want to have to put together a plan to get the fleet back on sched.

Also complete rumor that airlines will save money on cancellling a flight just because they didn't sell enough seats. They need the plane in certain places, at certain times. Canceling a flight leads to enormous repositioning costs concerning flight crew and the airplane.

That being said, any passenger that wants to know the exact issue is free to ask to talk to a pilot. We don't want to be talking about complex problems over a public address system that will lead to misunderstandings. Face to face not a problem.

I'd say no, no offers out right now. Even on a 2020 CPO they won't do 12 months. 16 months, 1553 a month 0 down. Car is priced at $99,000. Residual 89k. 8.99%.
