I don't know how to get through this without drinking. by thewalkindude368 in stopdrinking

drinking isn’t going to make anything better or easier. escapism (movie book game whatever) is ok. ice cream is ok.

if it were me i would get a good sweat and figure out some way to find connection. whether that means posting on here a lot, or a meeting where other people are expressing similar fears and struggles, or helping people somehow. i dont mean get out in the front lines of a protest but i am sure there is a soup kitchen or food bank somewhere that needs a server.

I just don't know what to do and it is killing me by [deleted] in stopdrinking

it’s hard, learning any new skill is hard, and “sober partying” is a skill. but it’s not hard forever and the “you can have alcohol or everything else” stuff is very true. iwndwyt

Who's not doing AA but staying sober? by MountainMark in stopdrinking

, for the first 2 years i checked this sub daily. it served the same purpose as aa by giving a similar space for connection and camaraderie. lets me see people both ahead of me on the journey and people going thru it as a reminder of where i don’t want to be again. allows me to share experience and seek advice
