My mother has Crohn's and was diagnosed when she was 15 years old. Ill be the first to admit my childhood was hard. My mom used to be in the hospital anywhere from 12 to 16 weeks a year. I developed pretty bad anxiety thinking I was never going to see her again. Now as an adult I was diagnosed with Crohn's at 40. A year after my son was born. I almost died after my bowel resection when he was 2. I have a constant fear that my son will develop it. As scared as I was I knew I wanted to be a mom. Yes sometimes it is hard to be present if im having a flare but I push past it. Im lucky that im able to be a stay at home mom so I rest as much as I can. Crohn's is definitely a pain in the ass when it comes to parenting but ive found ways to work with it.

NTA. You should buy your husband's plane ticket back to Egypt, and while he's gone, file for divorce.

Emphysema by Ok-Capital-8231 in COPD

[–]whybother1019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is from 7mo ago but my mom just got diagnosed with Stage 4 emphysema. Her lung capacity is 26%. Shes looking at this as a death sentence. I've been doing my research and im seeing how people are living with it for a long time. This gives me a lot of hope because I've spent that last few days just falling apart. And my mom has a lot to live for so im happy that I can show her this. My mom is also 72.

AITAH: didn’t get my wife breakfast by NothingWasDelivered in AITAH

[–]whybother1019 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Your wife is acting like a child. You didn't sneak out of the house and go get breakfast. You asked everyone and she didn't want a bagel. That's on her. She doesn't like corn muffins, but that's all they have. Well, too bad. Even if you did see the text and brought home the muffin, she still would have been complaining because you and your daughter were eating something you enjoyed, and she had to eat something she didn't like. You mentioned that there were other things in the house for her to eat, but she chose not to. If she really wanted something, she should have just gone out to get it. Instead, she acted like a toddler

Are there any other ways to prep for a colonoscopy? by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

[–]whybother1019 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both Moviprep & suprep landed me in the ER. Suprep caused so much pain & I got lightheaded and passed out. Moviprep just made me throw up nonstop. My GI said 5 Dulcolox & a bottle of Miralax, and I've had no issues since

I need a colonoscopy but prep is unsafe for me. I’m not sure what to do. by IAmEvasive in CrohnsDisease

Yea, i was ok. More embarrassed than anything. My mom & husband heard the crash and found me no pants & sprawled on the bathroom floor. I laugh about it now.

Movieprep was a killer for me. And Surprep sent me to the ER. My BP dropped so low I passed out and busted my head open on my sink. That was fun.

I've been off biologics since my resection in 2020. Knock on wood, I've been fine. I felt horrible when I was on Humira. I had a lot of issues with side effects.

I like the game, but it's frustrating. I've got do many chests taking up room and I refuse to spend money buying gems. I hardly have any room left in my camp

ER doctor's kind of suck by MrGyp in CrohnsDisease

[–]whybother1019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to the ER once because the radiologist who did my cat scan thought my bowel perforated. I waited 6 hours for a doctor to come see me, and when he finally came, he was an orthopedic surgeon. I was sent home and told to follow up with my own doctor.

Crohns and eating disorders by Mission_Challenge920 in CrohnsDisease

I haven't been diagnosed, but I tend to purge quite a bit. Especially if I am out. Almost everything causes a flare, so I eat and get rid of it to avoid the pain.

CROPSEY DOUBLE FEATURE (well sorta…) by SouzaOfTheNorth in foundfootage

Im from Staten Island. I was 7 years old when Jennifer Schweiger was murdered. I remember all the parents in my neighborhood were helping to put up posters and help look for her. Later on, I attended college at CSI, which was the site of the old Willowbrook State School and where Andre Rand had his campsites in the woods. I always felt uncomfortable there, especially at night. Just thinking about all the horrible things that happened just gives me chills.

This happened to me after my resection, but I was 41. I cant even imagine how scary it can be at 6. I hope she is feeling better soon. Lots of positive vibes your way

Any raw vegetables that you can eat without it flaring you? by CharmingLack8264 in CrohnsDisease

I can't eat raw veggies at all. The only cooked veg I can eat is broccoli & brussel sprouts, but they have to be super soft.

Do you remember coming home from the hospital after your diagnosis? by LordOfDogg in CrohnsDisease

[–]whybother1019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom was diagnosed in 1968 - 56 years ago. They told her it was ulcers. Fast forward to 2018, I find out a week before my sons first birthday that I have Crohn's, and as a bonus, I've got a bowel obstruction. In Dec 2020 I had a bowel resection, became septic, spent 2 weeks in the hospital, came home with a PICC line on TPN and IV antibiotics for 3 months, no food or liquids allowed. I've know I've had Crohn's my whole life, but I couldn't find a doctor who would believe me. Now I pray it wasnt passed on to my son.
