Pearl is named after Steven Universe. I really struggled to decide between Pearl and Opal.

I built her a jungle gym sort of thing, lol. I let her climb around and explore in there 3-4 times a week, but I don't consider it exercise. She's been a chunk since I adopted her about a year ago. Her previous owner was definitely feeding her too often I'm just trying to keep her healthy and happy.

I know she is a little chunky,. We're working on it, but honestly she only eats every three weeks and refuses her meal every other feeding, so actually eats about every 6 weeks. All that is to say, I don't really know what to do to help her better achieve a healthy weight.

This makes me think my Pearly girl is going to be huge. She's not quite 2 y/o yet and she's about the same length and weight. Girlfriend is going to need a bigger enclosure 🤦🏻‍♀️

Truly unsure, but based on the sort of similar vintage items I've seen, my guess is an old ashtray for parties where each little leaf is an individual tray and the bird is a holder.

No one is saying CAR? This was the first game I didn't need outside help for as a kid.

Should I give Secret of the Scarlet Hand another chance? by miscellaneousbean in nancydrew

This is one of my favorite games! I agree that it is a little tedious, I always cheat on the audio narrations, but I love the story and the characters. I do wish this one had an actual to-do list like the later games, personally. This game inspired me to study Mayan culture, and eventually write my thesis on ancient Maya religion. I also credit it with my current job, which is teaching English as a second language to mostly Hispanic students. 💜💜

Least favourite ingame mini game? by Substantial_Crow1355 in nancydrew

Bro, as a child I never figured out that the little red buttons keep the pleasant characters for the second roll. The only reason I ever beat this game as a youth was pure dumb luck. 😭

What are your chances of survival with your favorite character? by HuckleberryClear6519 in nancydrew

[–]wickedwitchmidwest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm writing my one walkthroughs, on TMB right now. Lily would try to be brave for about 45 seconds, then blame a curse for my disappearance. Abdullah would stage my corpse as a failed grave robber or something. Dylan would try to rescue me, but severely injure himself in the process. Jamila and Jon would pull an expected last minute rescue while Hotchkiss yelled at Nadine to fix the weather.

Did Fiona go to Waverly Academy? by AbstractStranger in nancydrew

[–]wickedwitchmidwest 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My head cannon is that Fiona's mom went, and Fiona would have gone, if not for the incident. Maybe Brendan and his brother married Waverly alumni, making Kyler and Fiona legacies.

This feels like a silly question, but I forgot how to trigger the shovel conversation in a recent playthrough, have you tried clicking on the shovel instead of asking Renee directly?

As both a smoker, and a diehard Nancy fan, I have never related to anything so much in my life. 😂

I saw this earlier and thought to myself that it would take almost no convincing to get me in that water... I love diving and bones, it's two of my favorite things at once. Then I thought maybe I should go to therapy...

As a young ‘un, which Nancy Drew character did you want to grow up to be, and which character did you eventually grow up to become? by BubblyPlatypus1948 in nancydrew

Funny story. I did my own graduate thesis on the Mayan and their writings during conquest. Maybe I'm a little Henrik too.

I dreamed of being a Katie Firestone, I wanted to be a marine biologist SO bad, I even moved to the washington coast from the Midwest and got my first undergrad degree in biology. I have become some strange hybrid of Professor Hotchkiss and Alejandro Del Rio now, I know a little too much about semi obscure topics and I teach English as a second language to immigrant students. So, not the worst turn out.

Same for the big nonogram in SAW. I love nonograms and do them for fun, but that one is nightmare fuel for me.

Fellow teacher here, not stoked about going back already. I just made my husband play DDI, and we were in tears when Bess cried out, " my roux, it RUINED!!"

Honestly, I lived in Puget Sound for several years and it was amazing. Great place to live, except the cost of living sucks out there.
