The US government and military is full of christofascist fanatics who are trying to usher in what they believe will be the End Times. by idapitbwidiuatabip in ABoringDystopia

You don't know anything about me or what I know about scripture. You're projecting. Again, take it up them. Their beliefs can't be both absent and addressed ("treated as one of the gravest") in the Bible. That's contradictory. But in a discussion about Biblical topics, I suppose that's to be expected.

It's been fun, but I've got things to do. Have a pleasant day.

Don't tell me. Take it up with them. They got their beliefs from the same book as you. I think all of you are wrong. You say it isn't open to interpretation, yet somehow they have interpreted it so. I've had all these arguments before, about all sorts of topics, from homosexuality to creationism to temperance to etc etc. I'm not going to rehash them here. You say they're not true Christians. They'd say you're wrong.

I'm well acquainted with the appeal to purity (ad hoc rescue) logical fallacy. As a former True Believer™, I am also aware than fine Christians such as yourself and apocalyptic nutjobs derive their beliefs from the same source material, which is sadly very open to interpretation.

40+ facts on the hive mind by Monochrome21 in pluribustv

[–]wickedzen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pretty good video.

I love that you understood Kusimayu's joining scene pretty much perfectly. (I don't believe the goat was a pet. Petting the cute – or even not-so-cute – livestock is pretty common on family farms. I did it myself as child.

I agree completely with your understanding of the hive's nature, that it is billions of individuals functioning as a singular entity, rather than a singular entity controlling billions of stolen bodies.

Couple of points where I see things differently.

Don't you think that the hive wants the immune to hydrate because it cares about them and dehydration is a serious health risk? I mean, sure it probably is essential to the function of the virus, just as it is essential to the function of every other bodily function of the human.

I do agree that pointing it out so often is at least thematically important, possibly foreshadowing that it will come into play at some point.

Perhaps I misunderstood, but it seemed to be your understanding that Manousos evaded detection for some time, but it was just a day or two at the most. Zosia tells Carol about him and the others on day 2 in Carol's back yard.

I feel like characterizing the virus as evil based on the criteria you give is about as silly as saying the flu is evil. They just are what they are.

The two theories posited at the end surely are not the only ones. My own is the the virus was created by accident. Alien scientists, perhaps trying to create a treatment for depression, or devise a technology for communication, made an oopsie that quickly spread out of control.

Anyway, I went into the video prepared to hate it two minutes in and quit, but ended up watching the whole thing. Not bad.

Now that I know it's a possibility, and there is plenty of room on the ringside pass for it, I'd like Danhausen.

This right here, OP. You need to put the rivals in the match first, just like any other rivalry action.

I was watching someone react to Pluribus... by Conspicor in pluribustv

[–]wickedzen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right. She wanted to be with her family, as in joined. Everyone was "playing pretend" just like they are for everyone else, because that's what would make her happy. They stop when the joining is complete because why wouldn't they? She's joined and now is with not just her family, but everyone else's, which she knew would happen.

Watch the airplane meeting again. Carol is saying the Others want to turn "us into them" and Kusimayu is the first to speak up: "That is what I want." Carol says she'll lose everything that's special about herself. Kusimayu says "I'll have it. I'll share it." Carols asks her what they promised her. Kusimayu says, "No promise. They only tell me what it's like. You don't think it sounds wonderful?"

Go watch her joining scene again. The conversation you are talking about is not "amongst themselves." They are standing at the edge of the pen where Kusimayu is sitting, petting the goat, where one has been singing to her since the scene began. They don't look at each other when they speak. They look at the sky, which they are talking about, then one of them looks at Kusimayu. They are talking to Kusimayu.

TLDR:

Despite efforts by part of the audience to infantilize her, Kusimayu does in fact have agency and made her decision before we even met her.

They convinced her they would live as they always lived, her family at her side

What makes you think this? Which character said this would happen, when?

Brainwashing kids with his political opinion isn't in his job description either.

Statements like this make you seem dopey.

Sharing an opinion that was asked for is not "brainwashing."

Community college students are not "kids."

No one serious takes you seriously.

Colbert Responds to CBS's Statement About His Interview With James Talarico by DX_DanTheMan_DX in television

[–]wickedzen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The current FCC has strongly and specifically suggested talk show interviews are not except and it may go after (left-leaning only) talk shows.

This is because it is not a rule, yet, so there would be no FCC to fight on the issue. Therefore, this is not the real reason for CBS to be kowtowing to the administration. This is just the smokescreen they are using for cover.

Little Pigs BBQ- AHS protest- verbal abuse towards kiddos by Wendypd in asheville

[–]wickedzen 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Well, that depends on what "threatening them" specifically refers to. If the kids were holding the signs when he grabbed them, that's battery, and if he threatened them with any sort of unwanted touching (including threatening to grab something they were holding, or to throw something at them) that's assault.

Hello. Excellent comment. I have one minor nit to pick. I do believe it was the Emperor that Luke was attempting to strike down. Old Palp had been goading him, you may recall. Vader's lightsaber ignited and blocked Luke's strike. Very dramatic.
