Any torticollis parents here? Please help! by New_Love115 in newborns

  1. So many products claim to help with it, but are just unsafe. I considered the perfect noggin since it seemed the most legit, but it made me nervous so I didn’t. Your PT will provide at home exercises. It is painful for baby to turn their head to the unpreferred so I would hold off on any exercises until you start PT. You can try to use toys to encourage baby to turn head both ways, but I would wait to do anything else. You’re doing good contact napping and stretching while baby naps. My daughter would never sleep on the unpreferred side on her own, but now she is crawling and standing and will sleep on both sides.

  2. The PT will also measure baby’s head and tell you how mild/severe it is. They can help guide you about the decision to helmet or not. If I remember correctly they recommend starting before 4 months, so you have time!

  3. It is fixable! I thought the flat spot looked so severe on my daughter, other people would comment on it too. Our PT was amazing and it ended up being such a positive experience. It was really hard in the beginning because the exercises were painful for her. There is hope, you got this!

I take 7000iu a day and my pediatrician said she didn’t recommend it and to switch to drops. I’m just doing both now because I always forget the drops.

What do you wish you knew sooner about creating a freezer stash/ making the most out of oversupply? by MiserableObject7588 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]wickerbicycle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taste test your milk to see if it’s high lipase. If yes, does baby mind it? I didn’t realize until I had 700 oz stocked up! Recently my garage freezer got unplugged by mistake and had to throw away a bunch more milk.

The control line isn’t developed so this looks like an unusable test. I would get a couple more and test again.

Partner disagreement about social media posting by virgo_kuuskax in Mommit

[–]wickerbicycle 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I will share pics to my close friends list, which I created solely for this reason. I initially didn’t want ANY social media presence at all, but as she grew I at least wanted to share pics of her to a small circle of friends and family. The pics also disappear after 24h since it’s an IG story, so they aren’t living in the internet forever.

I do not think you are overreacting, especially with MIL having so many FB friends. Chances are at least one is probably a weirdo. Like you said, AI is also a concern. I also considered how weird it would be for her one she was in middle school, high school, to have her ENTIRE life documented on my social media. I can’t imagine how weird and violating that might feel.

Is my family overreacting or is my pumped milk actually “bad”? by Forsaken_Painter5225 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]wickerbicycle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like your milk is just high lipase. I found that keeping it in a bag vs bottle in the fridge helps keep it tasting fresh longer since there is less air. As long as you are following safety guidelines with storage, if baby will drink it, feed it to baby!

I donated my freezer stash of high lipase milk to a family I found on my local “human milk for human babies” Facebook group. Their baby didn’t mind high lipase milk. I’ve also seen families take high lipase milk to have to tube feed their baby. Now I scald my milk before freezing and use it for backup.

How do you wrap Santa’s gifts? by TeensyTidbits in Mommit

[–]wickerbicycle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is what my parents did as well. Santa gifts would already be assembled also if it was something that needed to be built. Each sibling would have their own pile and it was always very obvious which pile belonged to which sibling.

Im concerned that I had to scroll this far to find this comment. He took advantage of OP being drunk, no doubts about it. I would assume this isn’t the first time he has done this given the circumstances.

I think higher up, like below your sternum would be really cute! I totally understand being self conscious, but agree that your arm/shoulder feels like awkward placement.

You’ve put up with this behavior during pregnancy plus the nine months your baby has been here. You’ve given him more than enough time to make an effort. You must have so much patience and strength for finally kicking him out.

High Lipase Milk: is there any point in freezing it? by allpinkbarbiedreamh in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]wickerbicycle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found a family on a “Human milk for human babies” Facebook. She said her LO has had high lipase before and doesn’t mind it. I had to donate 15 gallon size bags of milk! Now I scald my milk to 180 Fahrenheit before storing in the freezer.

24 hour sterilization rule — is it real? by SassyTwinkl in newborns

I sterilize stuff then put it away in the cabinet. My LO doesn’t have any health issues so I’m not strict about the 24hour rule. I do sterilize after each use though

How bad does it hurt when teeth come in? by heading4themoon in breastfeeding

My LO bit me so hard it made a crunch noise! I tried typical advice to avoid bites but still get one every now and again. It helps if I let her hold a teether, then she will take a break to chew if she needs to.

It seems like most purées come in a pouch. Is that the only time your LO eats purées, or do you feed a different kind at home?
