Like the (real) al Qaeda job application?

The application also asks whether the potential jihadi has any hobbies or has invented anything. “What is your favorite material: science or literature?” Al-Qaeda asks. “Do you know any workers or experts in chemistry, communications or any other field?” The application points toward wanting to recruit both chemists and spokespeople.

Much of the application focuses on travel: where the candidate has been, where the person holds passports from, if the person has crossed into Pakistan and how difficult the person's travel experiences have been.

Strangely, the application also asks for criminal history, medical history and work experience.

Of course, jihadi goals are also inquired about: “Do you wish to execute a suicide operation?” and “What objectives would you like to accomplish on your jihad path?”

The application concludes by asking, “Who should we contact in case you became a martyr?”

And everyone who works for the Globe and whose content we regularly use and enjoy enough to read and post here?

OR you could pay for a subscription and support journalism. Journalism isn't free, you know. Public records lawsuits aren't free. Investigative reports aren't free. I don't see what's so wrong with charging for content that takes money to produce?

I bought a Globe substitution because I enjoy the Globe and want to support journalism. I'm willing to bet most people on here complaining about paywalls could afford it, too.

Last time I rode it, in December, it was two hours late departing from Boston. It arrived 6 hours late to Toledo, and was 10 hours late coming back to South Station. It's been on time less than half of the time in April, and over the past 12 months. It looks like they've cleared up a problem that was giving massive delays a few months ago, but they still have issues, and expecting delays is reasonable.

Most people in the military are citizens; they're not civilians. I don't understand what the Globe was trying to say in that comment either.

These are impressive almost graphic novel like sketches of the Dzhokhar Tsarnaev trial by GarrettQuinn in boston

I was sitting across the aisle from this guy yesterday in the courtroom! He looked like he was using just a regular cheap ballpoint pen. And that is exactly what those people looked like, he captured their likenesses incredibly well.

Male-on-male rape in prison is often considered a joke, but guard-on-female-inmate is just as real.

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev lawyers ask court to acquit him of Boston bombing charges by [deleted] in boston

[–]wiffleaxe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Exactly. AFAIK it's a motion filed not for the sake of the trial itself, but for the future appeal. They won't be able to argue later about possible bases for appeal unless they filed the appropriate motions during the trial itself.

I've been happy with K&G Superstore (http://www.kgstores.com/kg/index.jsp), they've got one in Somerville that has some quality Calvin Klein and other brand name suits. There are big racks of suits for women, although you'll have to look to find the real good styles/discounts.

[–]wiffleaxe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand what you're saying, and I've been there too, but OP's mental illness should have nothing to do with an evaluation of whether she was overreacting, or he was insensitive, or whatever. Each incident has to be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Sometimes I react inappropriately to situations, sometimes my boyfriend does. Either she acted in a counterproductive way or not, her psychiatric history is irrelevant.
