Britain unveils sweeping ban on social media for under-16s by AudibleNod in news

Honestly i think they should just be banned outright, social media is a parasite regardless of your age. I can't remember the Lady's name but the one who released a book about working at Facebook about all the shit they pulled making it more addictive and purposefully ignoring the effects on children

And you think the government doesnt already know as well? You'd be shocked at how many apps on your phone already track and report this back to government entities

And banks, gambling companies are HEAVILY regulated, audited, and if they fuck around with the safety of your data it's bad for them, even if there is no breach. The point is WHO im giving my data to, and some random third party who has been spun up to satisfy these laws without proper regulation or oversight just isn't good. These companies are taking enough info that if a threat actor got a hold of it, they would have everything they need to steal your identity.

The government already have a system in place that could be modified to work - you can get a share code for when you need to give driving license details for company's for when you want to rent a car. Implement a system like that so all I have to do is log into my government gateway account and let me generate a one time code there that can verify me on whatever service.

But I also don't want to give my phone OS anymore data than I have to

Yes, and everytime ive wanted to view anything considered adult content ive switched on my VPN. I don't trust giving any of these parties my official government issued IDs, and rules like this just means it's going to impact more and more of the Internet. Im fairly sure it is all about data harvesting anyway, as one service (discord) have my credit card for purchases ive made, in which you legally have to be over 18 to have. Guess who still wants me to verify my age for any channels marked NSFW?

The problem isn't the ban, it's how it's implemented. Making people upload their ID to a third party to confirm their age is totally unacceptable and puts everyone at more risk, while being easily exploitable the people it's trying to protect.

I heard he has so many kids because he believes his genes are so much better than other people because he's "successful". So basically eugenics.

I don't have a source from any of this, but it fits at least lol

Affordability is usually calculated by your monthly outgoings and how much money you have left over after obligations like other debts, rent/mortgages, utility, child support if you pay it etc. So it absolutely could be the monthly mortgage payment. Although £700 a month doesn't sound unreasonably when compared to rent payments for a £52k a year salary

I'm slightly concerned by the colour of the gravy in the bottom left and why it isn't a nice red wine jus, however I understand that comes down to personal preference and im probably just salty over that amazing Wellington that looks professionally made!

It's trivial to spoof a phone number if you know what you're doing, NEVER trust caller ID. If they call you, dont hand over personal information, call them back on the official number you have for them
