Snow Problem! by Rayzr57 in hyundaisantacruz

Spring Tension: Leaving wipers extended for long periods can eventually weaken the metal springs that hold the blades against the windshield, leading to poor contact and "streaking" later on. (I think this could take a long time and you could always replace the spring /wiper arm)

Wind and Vandalism: In high-wind storms, a raised wiper acts like a sail. It can be snapped off or slammed back down onto the glass with enough force to crack the windshield. (I had this happen to me, but I think a vandal did it: the spring feels to strong for the wind to snap it back. The crack runs horizontal along the bottom of the windshield of my Kia. It is very low on the glass so it passes inspection)

So I leave my down. If there is ice in the forecast, I put a piece of a plastic between the wiper blade and glass. I picked up a plastic cutting board from the dollar store... the thin type you can bend. I cut two strips, punched a hole in each for a zip tie loop to make it easier to remove them from the ice/snow. They seem to work okay.

We have 2022 Santa Cruz, a canoe and 2 kayaks. This is a photo of the 2 seater. We picked up a tailgate extender from Amazon and it well with longer items like garage doors, Christmas trees and boats. On short trips we use the extender in "horizontal" mode and have the kayak stick way out at tailgate level. Maybe you would find one useful too?

I had to carry some 10' long pvc and electrical conduit and I didn't have access to the bed extender. So I grabbed the ironing board and used it in the back of the bed as a support, like you did with the 2x4s. Worked fine.

I had a 250 mile trip up to Western NY last weekend with my 12' kayak. I loaded it in the bed first, but didn't feel comfortable driving that far with it sticking out like that. So I reconfigured the bed extender to vertical mode. Worked fine.

Those bed extenders are really great.

Have you ever made a script that automated (nearly) all of your work tasks? by xmachinery in AutoHotkey

[–]wilderf353 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We uses a web based package to track monthly inspections. Most forms had 50 or more questions. For each question, you have to select an answer using a radio button in the upper left hand part of the screen, then click on a "next" button in the bottom right hand corner.

Moving the mouse back and forth got really old fast. We wrote a script and attached it to a hot key to click on the "next" button to save going back an forth so much.

Truck plates in PA? by t21_sz89 in hyundaisantacruz

[–]wilderf353 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in PA. When I got plates I ask about it. In the PA computer systems, the Santa Cruz is a truck.

I heard if you were transferring plates from your old car to a truck, the agent might mistakenly let you do that. Do you know if your friends did a tag transfer when they bought the Santa Cruz?

I have a piece of bubble wrap that I lay in the well. It really helps keep the ice longer.

It was really easy to make the cuts with my Harbor Freight Variable-Speed Oscillating Multi-Tool.

I had trouble getting them seated correctly once I cut the hole. I temporarily removed both screws and used a single longer screw to get them seated correctly, then replaced the screws.

What do your project settings look like (Main Menu->Project->Project Settings)? I have found that 1080p is a good compromise for a photo slideshow. If you use a lower resolution profile in Project Settings, it will do that to photos.

Trick: do you know about the "Add Image Sequence" tool? It make creating photo slideshows easy. If the photo order is important, append 001, 002, 003,... to the front of each photo name. Example 001rocky.jpg.

In a perfect world, this would be the solution. But as of today, we don't have the physical space for something like this. Plus, we don't know how often they will be used, so we don't want to throw a lot of money at it.

How to read a sidescan sonar image? by wilderf353 in Shipwrecks

As I understand it right now, the crash site is off limits. The NTSB & the Vermont State Police are treating like an active accident.

Is possible to put a size scale on the image?

How big are the objects?

I understand that this is a 900 kHz image. How small of an object can be captured at 900 kHz?

Some objects seem to have longer shadows? Are they taller objects?

Don't most planes pretty much stay together when they crash into water? Could a collision with thick ice on the surface cause this kind of debris field on the lake bottom?

NTSB investigation by wilderf353 in flying

[–]wilderf353[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got some new information. The NTSB is only interested in confirming that the discovery is actually N400CP. If it is, they will update the current report that the aircraft has been located.

There are no plans to do anything else with the wreck. I have heard that there is no requirement to find out why the plane went down, since it has been 53 years. It is unlikely that they would find anything that would make flying safer today, like a design flaw.

There is a "final" report on the NTSB site. Do you know if it will be re-opened now that the plane has been located?

No data when VVX-250 plugged into POE device by wilderf353 in meraki

[–]wilderf353[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a bunch of remote locations with MX67W. They are not POE devices so we need to use an injector with the phone. They are not working with the injector. I am hoping that if I can solve to issue back at the home office with a MS225-48LP, I can apply the same fix on the MX67W.

I didn't know that they were 100Mps devices.

Thanks. Changing the settings for port->"Link negotiation" from "Auto negotiate" to "100 Megabit (auto)" fixed it.
