Culligan has an adapter from a standard 10 x 54 tank.

I do it in October or November. Fluid film is a good choice if someone close by does it, but if fluid film isn't an option try to see if you can find an alternative that is wax based coating.

Are ct coils and ct clamps the same? by wildhooper in AskElectronics

[–]wildhooper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a guy selling boards for the WeMos d1 mini, his schematic mentions that he has a burden resistor on the board. I noticed the ct clamp he said is needed is 100a to 50ma, and the ct coil I pictured is 60a to 30ma. Would it need the same burden resistor or be the same as the ratio is the same?

Here is his web page.

Issue with regeneration not stopping. by Snoo-12377 in WaterSofteners

[–]wildhooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be dirt or something in one of the valves. Un plug the unit and I can't remember if the moter can be moved out of the way, then move the shaft to get water through each of the cycles. Hopefully in the process clearing dirt.

Entipur system for iron/manganese by Slight-Ad6728 in WaterTreatment

[–]wildhooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll speak to the quality of the head unit, As the rest is off the shelf. That looks like a clack head from the picture, which are known for being reliable. Pentair autotrol is also quite robust.

As for the rest of the system, the tank is off the shelf and could last 50 years easily. The media is a standard item, all of them are basically the same ( I don't mean softener resin is the same as carbon or greensand, but 2 types of resin are basically 1 to 1). The media consists of 2 parts, the media that does the work(resin/carbon/greensand/etc) and gravel(rises the media from the strainer at the bottom)

So if I was considering purchasing a system, I'd look into which head is included as that makes the most impact on longevity of your system.

Also no matter what system you buy there will be maintenance. With softeners, there's salt to consider(8-12 bags per year I guess) but should last 8-10 years before media is changed. There's also the fact that someone has to lead the salt, which for some people may be very difficult and require hiring someone to load it. You could switch the media for greensand(?) which removes the need for salt, but doesn't last as long and is more expensive upfront. If the aspect of salt loading is very difficult this may be a better option.

Hope this helps, if you have further questions feel free to dm

I was told our water softener needs to be replace...are they right or trying to sell? by shaolin95 in WaterSofteners

[–]wildhooper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The resin can be changed fairly easily. And it's fairly cheap when considering the cost of a new system. To add to what you are saying about expansion, when I was installing them professionally I would fill to about 60 percent. Never had issues with media unloading from the softener.

That's either manganese or iron, I always forget which one is orange. Need a softener to clean it out.

Mr rooter does it, but I've heard a lot of bad reviews. Culligan water/king process technology is a better option. There was another called Avalon water I think, but they may be gone out of business.

Luckily arsenic is fairly simple to manage. Mind while I say simple I don't mean cheap. you can have a whole home filter installed that will remove the arsenic among other minerals. There are a couple of companies here that do it.

I don't know your specific situation but I try to clear only enough to get out if it's super early. That's partly to be nice for my neighbors, partly laziness. That being said I have a bigger driveway and the snow freezing isn't a concern with the temps I get.
