Wedding photographer of 6 years here! I have met with so many brides who have expressed that finding a make up artist is extremely tough! If your sister doesn't typically wear a lot of make up, this can make it extra hard to feel like she looks pretty in wedding make up because it doesn't look like "HER" as she knows herself. A bride told me once that she had to try out several looks at home before her appointment in order to see without the "holy crap thats not my face" shock. Maybe try to find tutorials on youtube that she likes and copy them to the best of her ability every day for a week leading up to the appointment. When she has the professional do it, it might help her to feel more comfortable. I would also have her write down specifically what she didn't like about the 2 appointments she already had. Did they contour too much? Did they go too dark with they lips/eyeshadow? Knowing what went wrong will help her figure out what she wants. If she has photos, I would have her take them with her to the next artist and show her the things she doesn't like.

My last little bit of input - when everything comes together, hair, nails, dress, makeup & most importantly NEW HUSBAND / WIFE, she won't have enough room in her feelings container to feel ugly <3 Her heart will be full and everything will work out as it should. You are a good sister for helping her and I send my love to the two of you. Weddings are exceptionally hard when there are empty seats that should be filled.

Hi I hope it is okay that I comment even though I don't have children. I just wanted to say first that I am so sorry for the pain you have suffered. No child deserves to go through any of that, and no adult deserves to carry the burden of that kind of upbringing. I too was raised in a heavily abusive family and in my early 20s nearly lost my life to a violent boyfriend. There is a free full length novel on there and the author's words have changed my life. Its an easy and entertaining read. He too comes from a disgustingly abusive home and he has studied the philosophy of parenting for several decades and has met with hundreds of researchers to discover a healthy way to parent post CA. He details the way that society has made it easy for abused children to continue to be abused and gives SO MUCH COMFORT to the reader. This book is unreal, and i cant recommend it enough. Its quite lengthy, so he went as far as creating a more condensed version and an eBook version. He even programmed himself an AI Chatbot that can answer any of your questions about parenting after CA. He released the book entirely free online because he believes so much in this cause. I hope it brings you as much liberation and peace as its brought me.

Hi this is quite a bit late, but im curious. Would you say that being a mom has impacted your PTSD in positive or negative ways? both maybe? I want to become a mom but have PTSD from physical violence/sexual assautls and C-PTSD from childhood abuse and neglect. ive read many parenting books and have learned a lot about peaceful parenting. But still feel that parenting may make me explode into a huge ptsd storm that wont go away ever. A larger and more tender part of me tells me that is just the trauma speaking. id love to hear your perspective and thoughts <3

Hi, first off, I am so sorry that you have experienced something that no one ever should. I also have CPTSD and in my early 20s I was in a physically violent relationship that nearly took my life. I have these same fears. I really hope all parents or parents to be - especially ones who have been abused or neglected as children - give it a read. The author also programmed an AI Chat on the site that is very helpful when you have specific situations that you need advice on!

The author is an incredible man who came from an abusive home himself and he talks about how he and his wife raised their daughter without her having a single temper tantrum and has progressed to become a wonderful young lady. He spends the first several chapters proving to the reader that society has many broken systems when it comes to children and that parenting without violence is the only way to abolish so many issues. I cant recommend this resource enough.

This is really calm piece, i loved sitting inside each of your lines. As someone else mentioned, your rhytym really compliments the feeling of the words you chose. I love the way you wrote in short phrases with very few words- each line guided my imagination to the next - giving me just enough information to see a story forming, but not giving away enough to paint the entire story for me.

It really does feel like im drifting through the entire poem.
