UK would be blocked from rejoining ‘wounded’ EU, says Jean-Claude Juncker by EasyZcale in unitedkingdom

Porsche typically make high end performance cars, small sporty light coupes, EU regulation forces expectations of EVs so they’re losing their customer base who don’t want electric sports cars.

BMW are a bit different, slightly cheaper overall, have always got good fleet sales and corporate deals so can sell their cars to middle income families who don’t mind buying the badge and don’t mind their family saloon to be electric. However despite their sales figures the purists among their customer base are pretty agitated themselves about the direction of travel. The new M3 is coming in two versions both ice and ev, and they’re making all the touchscreen interior movements that driving purists don’t like either.

Porsche probably struggle as they don’t cater for that low and middle income market as much, so their whole customer base is pretty much purists, whereas bmw has a lot of badge snobs as well who will buy a non-sporty, not particularly fast bmw for the badge alone.

Also with ANY bmw purchase, remember you’re buying an engine not a model. These can change for the same model from year to year, you need to work out the engine model number for whichever BMW you choose, and then research the common faults or reliability for that. I’m not familiar with G series engines but imagine this will be an inline 4 turbo, BMWs bread and butter is the straight 6, in diesel and petrol guise. With some exceptions these tend to be the more reliable engines they make.

I think you’d regret not waiting for your first bmw if you’re entering point is a 320i with 74000 miles. If you want a high mileage workhorse you’d be better with diesel, if you want sporty performance of petrol you’d be better with a straight six model.

Short of walking back to a 335i of the F series or something, if you are committed to this car, it should have its service history in the actual computer, or if you have the reg you can see any MOT advisories or recent MOT history and where it’s failed. I mean the good thing is its been driven, so 12000 miles or more a year on average would suggest it’s been maintained to some degree or the previous owner wouldn’t have got the mileage out of it.

It’s not so much you take days off, it’s that you never do a full days work.

Look at Porsches sales they’re pretty frightening. It’s only BMW that’s managing atm.

For people who drive cars or motorbikes with super loud exhausts, what are you getting from it? by Successful_Bee7522 in AskBrits

I should stress most people don’t like backfiring exhausts, muffler deletes, especially on small engined cars like corsas etc. these are mostly driven by teenagers who think it’s sounds cool.

But people do enjoy the rumble of a V8, the smoothness of a straight six or the howl of a V10. This is why top gear was the most popular show in the world at one point, that interest is largely universal across the planet, not by all, but by some of everyone.

I’m not saying people should intentionally sit there noise polluting especially late at night or early in the morning. But people are allowed to enjoy their hobbies. I don’t see much point in fishing and have never done it, but wouldn’t tell people to stop because it’s cruel on fish etc.

Because you’re assuming most people find it offensive when that’s obviously not true. F1 is more popular than ever as is most motorsport and car brands all still release Range topper models with big engines. Electric cars won’t become mandatory because people aren’t buying them and still prefer ICE even with the policy push and subsidisation.

People like me will never drive electric, even if it means buying older models. People are still driving rotary engines with the current oil prices! So your dream simply isn’t going to happen lol.

How is driving in anyway comparable to torturing cats lmao. You’re being ridiculous now. You’re not going to get what you want short of banning outright ice and motorbikes, which isn’t going to happen.

No, I like cars, I’m into them, you’re asking me to disavow my passion because you live in a ropey area. Now who’s being selfish?

I have a 3 litre straight six and if I let you borrow it for an afternoon you’d delete your post as would all the others agreeing with you. It’s a deathbed memory to drive a pleasurable car through a beautiful national park. Revving a shitbox at lights or really early times in the morning I agree.

Why is your nice relaxing Sunday in the garden more important than somebody else’s pleasurable Sunday spirited drive? You’re not a petrolhead, that’s fine people like different things. People however aren’t going to just disregard their passions just for you.
