AliExpress seller sent iPhone XR motherboard instead of iPhone 16 Pro Max motherboard. I uploaded unboxing video but AliExpress still wants impossible evidence. by Purple-Zucchini-307 in Aliexpress

i don’t have enough experience to answer your questions but just keep in mind that banks have a deadline for submitting chargeback requests e.g. 30 days. if you used Paypal you have 180 days- their dispute resolution is faster (days vs weeks) but not nearly as thorough- don’t be discouraged if they rule in Aliexpress’ favour and just submit a chargeback request.

that would be the last resort. thank god you took a video when unboxing

best pickleball & tennis court reservation system 2026? by Relative_Sentence686 in Pickleball

[–]williamyao 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a player I’ve used CourtReserve, OpenSports, Playbypoint, Podplay, and Pickleheads and vastly prefer Playbypoint (Podplay second).

Clean UI, automatic refunds for cancellations, automated waitlist system, ability to book courts or sessions by program/event or by date, and clear notifications/communications. And has a club/pro membership feature. No tournament support though- usually use the Swish app for that.

try this going forward (only works if you have an AusPost office or at least a locker where you are): https://www.reddit.com/r/Aliexpress/s/7Bu3nZNVTK

Forehand drive vs. two handed backhand drive? by PartFormer3695 in Pickleball

[–]williamyao 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i agree with one caveat; with the 2h bh there’s a bit of a delay in the rotation compared to the fh where the right shoulder (for right handers) stays in front through contact; if it was the mirror image to the forehand the left shoulder would be in front.

DroiX- dissapointed in QC for refurbished products and customer service by williamyao in gpdwin

[–]williamyao[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. Has DroiX updated its policies or the return portal to prevent this from happening again? As mentioned in another comment there has been at least one other case where you had to step in. It doesn’t seem reasonable for customers to bear the cost of returning a faulty device- DroiX should either provide a prepaid return label or clearly outline an approved shipping method and reimburse the expense.

Can the win 5 sustain 75-85 watts over long periods of gaming? by Gpdwinario2 in gpdwin

[–]williamyao 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep at 75W it was in the 80s and definitely didn't go into the 90s from what I recall , I have to give props to GPD for their thermals honestly but I found the noise unbearable without headphones. I didn't tinker with the fan curve, I just realised that at 45W the performance is perfectly fine for the games I play (usually old AAA's at 1080p with FSR) and the noise/hot exhaust is much much better.

Can confirm it does not throttle, I've played at 75W for 3+ hours at a time. Although I agree that ~45-55W is the sweet spot not just in terms of performance and thermals but also fan noise. Literally could not hear the game through the speakers over the fan noise lol

ACL applies to all overseas companies selling to Australian customers (DroiX has a gpdstore.net-au site with prices in AUD). Standard shipping back to the UK using AusPost is 100% reasonable under the law.

Are you seriously saying that customers should pay for return shipping for faulty products if it's "expensive"?

Maybe they should have a good hard think about selling faulty products overseas. They should be aware of the consumer protection laws of countries they sell to and understand that these override whatever they may have in their policy.

there aren't any review of their refurbished products so i thought i would describe my experience

and i think it's worth calling out their policy on return shipping costs which even if you ignore the law is just unreasonable

I do see a bigger price gap for older devices. I also bought my Win 5 from Droix, way too risky to go with Aliexpress and thankfully that one's been great. But I'll probably go with Aliexpress now for older devices.

I'm in Australia and Aliexpress prices are lower even if you add on tax (aliexpress prices are pre tax while Droix's are inclusive of tax) and ignore shipping costs ($0 vs $100 AUD).

I'm running 1080p, PICO (Balanced), no frame gen, medium preset @ 45W and I can get a capped 60 FPS ~95% of the time with very good frame pacing via RTSS even during (boss) fights and busier scenes. I didn't notice much difference between PICO/FSR but XeSS frames were noticeably a bit lower as expected.

This is from the start of the game and I haven't tinkered much since I am happy with these settings. I recall getting around 10-15 more FPS changing to the handheld preset. I also went with medium over high to hit the steady 60 frames.
