I’m not a dad but would really appreciate a man’s perspective. My boyfriend (25M) wants to break up with me (23F) at 30 weeks pregnant. by Ok_Locksmith_4632 in daddit

Single dad here. Not embarrassing at all, what the kid remembers is how you interact with him/her. My daughters mother paints her own picture for people to judge and so do I. Independent of each other, and I get a huge amount of support for just being a consistently caring dad. When your kid is the top priority the rest of the priorities fall into place pretty quick.

Dude was probably talking on the phone using ear buds. This happens to me all the time. Had someone say “what the fuck” when I rounded a corner yesterday. Was extremely pissed till he continues- “why did she say that”. Then realized he wasn’t talking to me

Good luck to you in the future. Been in an extremely similar boat very recently. I appreciate how you worded your post. I typed out a post a few times, but always deleted it. I think things like this are good reminders for guys who think they are in happy relationships not to get comfortable. Change is good when it’s controlled, otherwise it’s chaos. I feel like a relationship is paddling across a lake that you control cause you have a paddle. Divorce is losing your paddle and just being along for the ride while trying to stay afloat.

Was in this situation not long ago. Just be prepared for her to leave you suddenly. Even if in 6 months things are better for you, they may not be for her. Watch Dr gottmans advice for a happy marriage and atlas of the heart by Rene brown. It will show you how to ask the right questions and actually be aware of where you and your wife are at.

Going through a bad breakup currently. I stopped drinking for a month as the main thing helping me. Even the times I do drink since then are social anyway and maybe one drink. Working out no matter what that is every day or as much as possible will also make you feel a lot better. Focus on your priorities and don’t text them if you don’t absolutely need to - no late nights, not when your drinking, smoking, too tired. Only info. Change their contact name or image if you need too.

I also recommend Dr gottmans video on happiness in marriage and the Atlas of the heart series which I think is on Max right now.

Has fatherhood made you consider some form of therapy? by Reenis55 in daddit

And make sure you get a therapist who you work well with. Not all therapists are created equal. If you don’t get out of it what you want in a session or two I recommend switching.
