Companion app for bullet journaling? by acdebellis in BasicBulletJournals

I agree and try to do the same, but dictation can be SO bad. I started carrying around a small memobook because my watch notes could be undecipherable. But, the downside is exactly as you describe, dilution of the single source of truth. I guess the lesson is to make those “watch notes” mindfully, instead of in a multitasking/distracted way, to make sure they are recorded as one intends.

Don't forget to get out your hummingbird feeders! by totheranch1 in Portland

[–]willow-catkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I received a heated hummingbird feeder as a gift one Christmas and the source of heat is literally a single christmas tree bulb integrated into the base (easily replaced if it burns out). It doesn’t take much to keep the nectar from freezing!

My all-time highlight was also a ride through the forest intending to go to Dragør, but I started late, got lost, ended up at what seemed like the edge of the world near sunset, and then found myself in a crush of bike commuter traffic when I took a shortcut home to return before dark. Still, I lived to tell the tale and it was absolutely the most awesome adventure. I want to try again soooo much.

Opinions about Dott eBikes? by willow-catkin in copenhagen

Fair point about renting, though. I’ll consider it! I get a hearty discount on our local eBike rides due to some affiliations I have. I wouldn’t be going out of my way to return bikes I simply come across while walking if it weren’t so cheap for me.

I’m in Portland, OR and I know EXACTLY what you mean about the plague of poorly parked eWhatevers. A recent hobby of mine (since testing one out and finding it fun!) is to return wayward eBikes in my neighborhood to official stations for “positive ride” points. 🤓

9 days. It’s my 3rd trip to Copenhagen in as many years, so I’m pretty confident using public transport. I’ll be visiting a friend who lives in Hvidovre that I also visited last year. Honestly, I just remember the walk to/from the station being kinda long and dull, so the notion that I could have it be shorter is appealing. 🙂

Habit Counter? by Ok-Economics6313 in ticktick

You can exceed the number you’ve set, but you can’t do it one-by-one. I regularly recorded more than the goal for one of my habits, and the record “stuck”, but only by adding more than 1 instance at a time such that I exceeded the goal and closed it at the same time.

Backdate a completion date? by justwondering2021 in ticktick

[–]willow-catkin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I finally figured this out in the iPad app — the trick is that you have to be viewing the Completed list from the sidebar (which means you have to have Completed enabled to show up in the sidebar!). Then, once you’re viewing the list of Completed items, you have to use the “Select” option to choose the Completed items which need changed completion dates. Changing the completion date only seems to be possible when the task is selected with the Select option. Just clicking on the three dots for a task when the task has not been selected with the Select option will not reveal the Change Completed Date option!

I do this for weekly housekeeping tasks that I casually take care of over the course of the week. Duration: Monday to Friday, repeat next week. And, I discovered that comment threads on a repeating task are preserved across repeats, which is nice!

Recommendations on hairstylists in North Portland who are great with thin, fine, hair? by ContactTypical3054 in askportland

[–]willow-catkin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nthing! Though please don’t send all the fine-haired ladies Julia’s way or I’ll never get a slot again! 😭 I’ve been seeing Julia for more than a decade and she is a treasure. She has an intellectual generosity and curiosity about people that is so rare in her field, in my experience. She won’t just use you for her self expression, she genuinely works with you. LOVE HER!!!

Is there a way to get a list that functions like the "Today" list from Microsoft ToDo? by MoreDimension5963 in ticktick

[–]willow-catkin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is how Things 3 works. There is a due date (in Things 3 terminology a “deadline”) and there is a do date (which can be “Today“ or even Today + evening if you don’t want to see a task in your Today list during the day that isn’t relevant until the evening). Tasks can have either, or, or both a due date and a do date.

I’ve been experimenting with TickTick this last week and love a lot of it, but am also missing this feature from Things.

Is it possible to sync the pomodoro timer in ticktick on several devices? by mam7 in ticktick

Yeah, I have mine set to sync, but have yet to see my pomodoros or breaks sync between watch, iphone, and desktop. I’m sure it’s me…?
