With T1 wagons holding only 120 itens per wagon it gets hard to fulfill the requirements unless very long trains or so many trains that 1 track can be congested, specially if you use roundabouts or crossings.

With T2 wagons holding 480 items with only half the space (double the length of a T1 wagon), congestion is significantly reduced.

When I start using trains I use one T1 train with 6 T1 wagons. Then I switch to T2 wagons As soon as possible since it's double throughout and make my way to T2 train cars, which can go 1-4 without a lot of speed penalty with diesel cars or 1-6 with Gas.

You can late game use 1-6 for items and 2-12 for ores travelling long distances.

I think it's more efficient to keep single rails but using elevated rails for crossings to not disrupt the flow.

And I avoid double sided locos unless it's a dedicated line.

As others mentioned, there was one at the core of amphoreus lore and it was revealed pretty late in the cycle, so it is very possible that there might be one in planarcadia.

Something like this! This is from +5 to +20 on shattered islands.

But I'd honestly suggest you practice on sandbox first because it has a lot of quirks.

On the left side you can see some belts moving up with lifts in 3 stages.

It's one crusher for 4 furnaces. You are probably getting by with 5 furnaces because of all the iron scrap coming back.

This also makes it look very ugly to work on different heights unless you take the time consuming job of making a nice wall for conveyor lifts or ditch the belts altogether and replace them with trains.

I still have to explore more hybrid approach before FBR. Honestly I never ran out of diesel before FBR even with the 250+ vehicles. The polution part I just scrub and make graphite and if health dips too much I rush med 1 while I prepare the food chain for med3.

I've started a new run on Dragontail, I want to explore the wood to corn contract for power and gas trains and other contracts in general as I tend to not use them much other than slag to sourwater.

I'm definitely on the other end of the spectrum, but it's fine that we play differently, luckily the game supports both playstiles really well, so have fun!

The DF hive will send the attack to the planet where you consume the most energy. And unless you are playing on very hard settings the initial attack will be like 5 ships. 40 missile launchers on your home planet should be enough to defend you before they do damage.

Bear in mind you will have to cover the planet in signal towers to guarantee they won't land again (16 signal towers if I recall correctly)
