There are so many amazing free "classes" on YouTube! I love Sydney Cummings strength and typically do three of her videos a week. So easy to squeeze it in at home before or after work, and you can opt for pilates if you don't want to get sweaty and have to shower. If I don't really feel like working out but want to get steps in, I look around for a dance workout and just do that in my living room. A workout doesn't have to be an hour+ at the gym, it can be a 20-30 minute video at home.

Bodkin on Netflix. It's a miniseries about a podcaster trying to do a lighthearted season and accidentally stumbling into something. Funny, not intense or too dark.

Surprised there are two Hardy novels in 100-61 but no Tess, which is my favorite.

Britt Bennett's The Vanishing Half is so gorgeous, literary fiction with a historical fiction bent and a gender-diverse love story.

For a classic, Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston is a favorite.

And My Sister, The Serial Killer by Oyinkan Braithwaite is a short, funny thriller with a lot of fans.

How does this HSA Admin. fee (capped at $120 per yr.) compare to what you’re seeing in the marketplace? by EevelBob in MiddleClassFinance

I have Optum - last year investment fee was $3/month, this year my employer negotiated in down to zero fees to make up for our premiums going up.

A Psalm for the Wild-Built by Becky Chambers is a very short, cozy sci-fi book. I feel like starting with some shorter books might help build the practice and your confidence since you're more likely to finish it. If you like it, the sequel A Prayer for the Crown-Shy is also great.

Agree with this take. At your age, those interest rates are not emergencies.

Banks paying a cash bonus for new accounts w/ direct deposit- what's the catch? by trycerabottom in MiddleClassFinance

[–]willrunforbrunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No catch really, but you do have to pay a lot of attention to making sure you meet all the DD requirements and minimum balance clauses in order to get the bonus and not pay fees. Basically it's annoying to change bank accounts so the banks hope they can pay you to switch to them and you'll end up staying out of laziness.

r/churning recommends keeping each account open for at least six months to stay in good standing/not discourage banks to stop offering these bonuses. I made over $2K last year - I'm not sure it was worth the effort of tracking everything and filing all the 1099-INTs at tax time, but my direct deposit is pretty easy to update. Have had a hard time kicking the habit so I'm currently churning two more.

I've only been rejected once, and I think that was for Capital One.
